EOS Bodies - For Stills / Re: Thinking of downgrading my 5d3 system
« on: January 06, 2013, 04:05:17 AM »
A lot of people buy professional gear, but don´t really need it.

If you have a lot of expensive CF cards and want to track subjects, stay with the 5D Mark III.

For private use you don´t need the 600 flash or the EF 70-200 2.8 II. Sell it and get the EF 70-300L if you don´t want to shoot portraits with it.

I highly recommend the EF 24-70 2.8 II. You are more flexible in low light conditions with this lens.

Believe it or don´t believe it.

I am not willing to post any pictures in the net.

In the future I don´t post the hints in the forum and send the hints only to the admin.

Canon General / Re: How many clicks in 2012?
« on: January 02, 2013, 01:56:27 AM »
My Raid-Storage-Systems say that I have around 250.000 raw files, but I delete a lot of pictures because I do a lot of "safty shots" and do every shot with different exposures/settings.

I think that up to 750.000 clicks with different cameras will be realistic.

There will be a real (big megapixel) replacement for the 1Ds Mark III with an outstanding image quality.

All big megapixel sensors (prototypes) are in an 1D X style body.

I can highly recommend the EF 135 f/2.0 L lens.

EOS Bodies / Re: Does a 39.3mp Sensor Exist? [CR1]

There are a few different big megapixel cameras (sensors) are out for testing.

No big megapixel prototype sensor is in an 5D Mark III style body.

Not all lenses perform very well with the new camera.

But the "workhorse" lenses like the EF 24-70 f/2.8 II L do the job very good.

Some photographers get the EF 14-24 f/2.8 for testing a few weeks ago.

Lenses / Re: Selling 70-300 IS - Suggest Replacement?
« on: December 21, 2012, 01:48:04 AM »
I use the lens since over ten years on APS-C without any problems.

I called it the "most fun for little money lens". Buy another one. It´s old but great for the money you pay for it.

If you have the money you can also buy the EF 70-300 IS L lens. It performs very good on APS-C, but it´s not the best for FF (CA etc.).

For FF I recomment the EF 70-200 f/2.8 II L IS lens. But some of the lenses deliver images (compared to the EF 70-200 f/4.0 L IS) with a little red color cast. That´s a problem if you shoot portraits, but it´s fixable in camera raw.

« on: December 21, 2012, 01:39:44 AM »
If you was one one the first who buy the cameras after the introduction (early adopter) then you pay a higher price for the cameras and have many problems with errors.

If you don´t need the cameras for business then you have better to wait a few month.

Lenses / Re: Buy Canon 24-70l II today or wait for Newer version with IS?
« on: December 20, 2012, 06:26:54 AM »
Weight or the higher price for the IS version is only one side of the medal. The IS prototype don´t reach the image quality of the EF 24-70 f/2.8 II L lens. The difference is not very big, but you see it. Not sure if Canon make changes for the production version.

I recommend to use the EF 24-70 f/2.8 II L lens instead the IS version.

The EF 24-105 f/4.0 IS L lens is only good at f/8 up to f/11 (f/16) and needs an replacement. I am totally shocked if Canon introduce the 5D Mark III with the old EF 24-105 f/4.0 IS L lens. That´s really a shame.

EOS Bodies - For Stills / Re: right now i am not happy to be a canon user
« on: December 20, 2012, 06:14:39 AM »
That´s Canon Germany and Canon Europe. No service (CPS included) and totally excessive prices compared to others.

The 1D X, 5D Mark III and 6D is not worth the price you pay for it in Germany.

If you don´t need the camera yet for professional use, than wait or buy it somewhere else.

If you are in fashion and weddings buy the 5D Mark III with the new EF 24-70 f/2.8 II L lens.

The IS version has more weight and will be very expensive.

If Canon don´t make changes, then the EF 24-70 f/2.8 II L is delivers a better image quality.
