It's funny reading all there complaints about Canon.
When in reality all professional gear Canon has in production are great.
And if you think something is missing it will come in time. Don't loose your pants yet.

Please canon don't let me down now :) this is propably the 20th set of rumours for the 1DS III replacement.

(They said that the 1DX is 1DIV+1DSIII combined, and it is BUT it clearly was not a replacement for a 1D series studio camera)

I absolutely love this lens! I have used it for 1.5 years now and i always have it with me!

I had little time to take this shot. I'm really happy i got the railing sharp as well as the boat with some nice bokeh on the side.

I would personally go with the 1Ds III. I am simply addicted to 1D bodies and for landscape and studio shoots i would choose it every time.

And the chances are you still get a longer shutter life with the 1Ds.

1D bodies are like tall supermodels with the complete package. 5D bodies are girls with pretty faces but the rest is questionable. (Nobody get offended by that) (i mean it)

They don't have to follow what Nikon is doing. They chose to go with a lower megapixel 5D III.
If i was canon i would make a real flagship camera with high megapixels and with the added funding from higher price concentrate on high image quality and dynamic range.

If you think they should follow nikons D800 then why does not Nikon follow Canon's 5D III?

I'm betting 1D sized and 11 000$

Canon General / Re: How many of us are making money out of photography ?
« on: September 20, 2012, 06:42:48 AM »
Currently 21 years old and barely started to try to throw my name out there by any means. Spent over 10k on equiptment thus far (student loans). Shot a couple TV actors, one wedding, and a few musicians which has brought me SOME money. Living off student loans at the moment, so any money earned off shooting is like a luxury.

Yes, I go to photo school too. If I mess up really bad, I'm screwed :o ! But still giving 110%; handing out flyers tomorrow and have some Model Mayhem models lined up to get some decent portfolio work. After portfolio is solid, internship hunting! :)

In other words.... Ten-ish years to go!  :P

Any pros out there, Advice would be wonderful, but the good kind.. No, "just give up and study accounting", because I'm not the quitting type  ;)

My advice is that the moment or soon after your pictures are worth every penny and more that you ask from your future clients you have work. It won't be ten-ish years if your 1. Believe in your self, 2. Have talent, 3. Develope that talent. I started photography about 5 years ago and i have been pro for 2 years now.

I often recieve job applications from photogs and i have not been happy with any of their photos, although they have been to photography schools and i haven't. I am still a "fresh/young" photographer but i am constantly improving.

Last thing: don't quit. (Like you said) Nothing will happen unless you make it happen.

More than $10k for Canon just for love, not a penny back. Have full time job not relating to photography. LOL.

I did that too before but after $20k i started my own photo company 2 years ago.

Canon General / Re: Loving Canon right now.

Does anyone know if the folks at nikon rumors hate nikon so much as people hate canon here?
For what i've seen and heard they dont. We should grow up.

Who here has thought about talking to their mothers about all the hate you have about canon? I'm sure she could help somehow. (ps. I'm not trying to troll anyone, just saying)

This post is not intended to start a war on this forum, but I just wanted to voice my support for Canon at this point in time. Reading through recent forum posts on here, I get the impression that most people have gotten really fed up with the company and their products... I for one can't quite understand why? Call me a fanboy (whatever, I've also shot Nikon dslr, and going back a few years...ahem decades... Minoltas and Pentax 35mm slrs), but the sheer choice right now is brilliant if you ask me. Last year I was in the position of wanting to upgrade to Full Frame, and at the time there was literally only one (I will stand corrected on this - please do let me know) body in the canon lineup that I could consider for FF: The 5DII, which is what I bought. I've been very, very happy with my purchase, but alas, if Iwas making the jump right now, like a lot of people seem to be, I would have the choice of 4 bodies: 1DX, 6D, 5DII or 5DIII - seems to me like a great time to be entering the canon fullframe arena!?

I'm interested to hear why people are becoming more and more unhappy with canon products? If it's the price, in my opinion this doesn't really count... I know I'm gonna take some flack for this, but you get what you pay for and if you can;t afford it, either save your money or look elsewhere. I would like to drive a BMW M5, but I can't afford it. Instead I drive a humble VW golf. Doesn't stop me lusting after the M5, but I wouldn't start complaining to BMW about the price, and demand it drops down to VW pricing. It's simply out of my reach at this point. Tough totty.

As far as I can see it's a great time to be doing photography and canon is still the first port of call for me. My 5DII still takes awesome shots and I intend to keep it for another 5 years, much like my 400D before that.

Finally someone posted something decent! You read my thoughts. No matter how positive the thread starts it always turns to hating canon. Most of the time the prices tick people off.
I don't usually read past the second page because it is just canon hate on a canon forum.

I'm just happy there is a great selection of lenses and camera bodies out there that let me do exactly what i need to do.

Please switch to nikon already if you don't like any cameras that canon makes or stop complaining.

EOS Bodies - For Stills / Re: Canon Announced the Canon EOS 6D DSLR
« on: September 17, 2012, 10:09:57 AM »
11 AF points and only ONE of them is cross-type??

Meanwhile the D600 gets 39 points and 9 cross-types!

Even the "lowly" rebel T3i / 650D has 9 cross types!

What are you doing Canon?? Trying to breathe new life into the old focus & recompose technique?

The wording might be an unlucky one. It might as well mean that the center point is a higher precision cross-type, and that there are more cross-types among the other 10 points.

The d600 does have 39af points but they seem to be just as wide spread as the 11 af points on 6D. Therefore the same old composing tecniques on both the cameras.

How is the price an issue to anyone???? If its as good as it now seems it should be more expensive!
If it's sharper than 2500$ primes then a 24-70 zoom lens with similar performance A BARGAIN!

If you dont like the price get the old 24-70! you get performance for every cent you spend for this lens!

I wish all L lenses were 5000-8000$. They would be sharper and better all around. It is only because we are poor that they are this cheap.

30
I find it hard to believe these "test results"
Partly because i love primes. And if they can make a zoom lens that good they better update every single prime lens they make to be much better cos' they seem to have better technology than before to design lenses.

If canon made a zoom lens that good it's fine with me but it should not be possible to beat primes.
I'm voting for this one to be a hoax! IT IS POSTED ON A RUMOR WEBSITE. It's not really official info.
I can make my own tests and say the 50mm 1.8 is sharper than the new 400mm 2.8L IS II USM.
