EOS Bodies - For Video / Re: First Canon EOS C100 Short Hits the Web
« on: September 11, 2012, 01:56:25 PM »
I couldn't finish watching the movie. Anyone else get annoyed of hearing the same "C POWER" over and over and over again. And i think i've seen enough of C flags too. Really nice image quality but what a crappy film. Whose imagination is that limited.

EOS Bodies / Re: Is a 46mp Canon EOS-1 on the Way? [CR1]

The Nikon D800 with it's 36MP sensor produces 75MB RAW files, so a 46MP sensor would result in files sizes of around 100 megabytes per shot, so a 1-2 second burst could fill 1 Gigabyte of your CF card! A longer series of rapid burst could theoretically fill an entire 16Gb memory card. Not to mention increased storage costs/problems.

I'd prefer a 24MP to 27MP cheaper FF body for now (so I could upgrade from a 7D)

Anything between 26-40mp and i'm happy, though i would prefer 26-30mp

As long as they realise this needs to beat, not just match, the Nikon D800E, then its on my wish list. Hopefully this will be the updated 1Ds I've been waiting for, with world class DR, mind blowing resolution, and none of the irritating banding issues or pattern noise problems besetting all the existing bodies.

Interesting how long its taken Canon to respond to Nikons D800E, when they must have known about it a long time before the average joe did, gagging orders or no gagging orders.

I would think it would beat the D800E, canon has been holding back for a reason.

This would be the long waited 1Ds replacement.

Thanks for your Suggestions! I'm suprised how many different ones you guys have found and that i'm not the only one looking for a good bag.
I guess there are good bags out there and the world is not so grim as i thought.

I liked the incase ari marcopoulos the most! I'm pretty sure i'll end up with that.
I also liked Domke F-831 bag, Thinktank retrospective, Crumpler karachi outpost, Tenba small messenger.

Looks alright, i'm looking for something a little smaller.
Although i am also looking for a bag that fits much more gear so i'll keep that in mind.

What kind of people design camera bags? My guess is people who are 55 yrs old, who wear clothes from the early 90's With no eye in fashion. because 99.9% of all camera bags look really bad and they hurt my eyes when i look at them.

I use a lowepro classified 160, which is actually an ok looking bag but i need a smaller size backback or a really ergonomic shoulder bag/sling for my 3 month trip to Japan where i will walk up to 10 miles on some days.

I also want to be somewhat fashionable or at least have it be ok looking so i won't stick out as a stereotypical photog with a huge square looking thing on my back that could house a small person.

I want to fit one 1DX body, two primes and an ipad. (smaller size is also a good thing when i'm riding the metro in Tokyo at rush hour.

Maybe your suggestions and findings will be useful to many others too.

So have you found anything good? I've looked at many.. like lowepro, crumpler, kata etc... And they all look horrible.
Price is not an issue.

Thanks!

Lenses / Re: Post your 24-70 II Experiences Here
« on: September 05, 2012, 04:59:55 AM »
I am quite curious to see how a non-IS standard zoom lens costing $2,300 performs. 70-200 IS II is one of the few zoom lenses that is sharper than primes (or as sharp as) wide open. I wonder if 24-70 II will achieve the same for say 24L, 35L, and 50L.

I say primes are always better for anything. If i used the 24-70 to shoot weddings in dimmed light i would get much more noise than at 1.2 or 1.4 with primes. If you compare mtf charts look at the f/8 results to compare.

I use TS-E 24mm 3.5 II, 35mm 1.4, 50mm 1.2, 85mm 1.2 II, 135mm 2.0 ,so i won't be buying any zoom lenses anytime soon on those focal lenghts.

Lenses / Re: Walk-Around Lens For Canon 1DX Camera
« on: September 04, 2012, 04:44:46 PM »
I would recommend a porter to carry that big brick around while you are walking from photo op to photo op.  Sort of like a caddy in golf, you know?   ;D

But seriously, it is hard for me to imagine carrying a 1Dx as a walk-around camera.  I'd be curious to know what photo subjects require such a big gun. Surely, that is not your only DSLR?

1DX is not big enough for a walk around camera.. I have my 1D IV everywhere i go.. To me it get big with a 70-200 2.8 on it but a 50 or a 35 it's as small as they get :)

I want to use the same lenses that i use for work when i take a walk because i often get really good shots walking around and i could not use them or sell them if i had a rebel.

Lenses / Re: 135mm + 1.4 extender _VS_ 70-200mm f/2.8 IS mkI
« on: September 04, 2012, 03:54:22 PM »
I just sold my 70-200 2.8 IS II and bought a 135 2.0 to replace it. (and also 35 1.4)
The 70-200 was too big and heavy for a walk around lens and i love the 2.0 aperture in the 135.

So i would recommend a 1.4  extender although i dont have experience of using it but i plan to get one.

EOS Bodies - For Stills / Re: Black specks on 5D Mark III
« on: September 02, 2012, 01:15:26 PM »
I just got some new black specks in the viewfinder last weekend and i bought a new focusing screen and they all went away.

FWIW, Canon does not consider the focus screen on a 5DIII to be a user-replaceable part.

Sorry, i was talking about my 1D Mark IV. I didn't know they are not user replaceable in 5D III.

My 70-200 2.8 IS II  had some play when i had a 5D II but has no play in any of my 1D Mark IV bodies.

Think about it this way:
Would anyone who has had the 50 1.2 for some time give it up and swap it to the 1.4.
I don't know of anyone would. The 50 1.2 spends the most time on my camera.
