EOS Bodies / Re: More Images of the Canon EOS 7D Mark II

Have you thought about a battery pack/power bar for recharging over the day, independent from sunshine? Used this during trekking in the Himalaya, and I could easily recharge a G13 battery for 5 times without using up more than 60% of the battery pack capacity (Anker, 13000mAh). You can also charge you smartphone, and other devicesand recharge the power bar over night. Btw. might the 3 (or 4) batteries not be enough for a whole day?

EOS Bodies / Re: The Always Hidden Camera at the World Cup
« on: July 05, 2014, 06:06:14 AM »
The photos displayed were from the game Algeria - Germany with partially stronger rain. So this might be the (boring) explanation of these "hidden cameras" ...

Exactly, there was heavy rain throughout the whole match.
if in yesterday's soccer games the cameras were still covered I would rather believe new prototypes being tested hidden from the public....

nothing, no opinion? no advice? no experience ?

I had already decided to get a new laptop with FHD (1920x1080) resolution, now the same series comes also with an optional 2880x1620 resolution. Is it worth paying the price difference  (approx. 400 Euro) for the more than 2x higher resolution? Is it useful for photo editing? What is you experience?

Thanks for helping out!

The englisch translation is absolutely right. Even if you read the german text very carefully, there is not the slightest hint to a product announcement, all it says is that it is just a simple presentation of the canon products.

Canon EF Prime Lenses / Re: Canon EF 100mm f/2.8L Macro IS USM

7D f2.8 1/15th ISO200, shot handheld after sunset.
Simply love this lens

It makes me sad to see an offer like this. In Europe we pay at least $ 2.100 for the 6D body ONLY, and we never get offers like this. Sadly the offer is only valid for the US only, this kit would still be much cheaper including shipping, handling and duties than what their charge us here.

EOS Bodies / Re: Canon EOS 70D Spec List

So the 70D is a good step ahead.... autofocus with 19 cross points and 5Xfaster live view.... a bump up in ISO and # of pixels... WiFi..... This makes the 7D a very lame duck... perhaps even a dead duck...

This can only mean only one of two things.... that the 7D line is to be discontinued, or that the 7D2 will be a SIGNIFICANT step up over the 7D... I'm hoping for the latter!

What's not clear about 70D yet:
- AFMA is present or not
- body is magnesium alloy or not
- SD card slot speed

I think 7d2 will have magnesium-alloy body, focus system of 5d3 or closer to that, dual memory slot, digic 6/6+, 1080p@60fps, even a new sensor and everything 70D has. So, 7d2 will be more of a high-end ASP-C.

But I speculate 70D will be priced high, 1200$+

Depending on the body quality, it looks indeed like the 70D will take the place of the current 7D in the Canon line-up

You could try Calumet, 711rent,  or local stores.

EOS Bodies - For Video / Re: Inside the Canon EOS-1D C

>The EOS-1D X has some traces of the EOS-1D C firmware code and the features are locked. We don’t know how much of the firmware is the same.

For me this statement strongly implies that it can be done in principle....

You might already know the CR guy's review of the lens:

Portrait / Re: Portrait - Trying something new

There is one thing that somehow disturbs me. The guy in the house is far away from the bride, she seems  to be unreachable for him from his point, even with this huge kitchen knife. One could have placed him on either side of the house looking around the corner. This might have added some ""realism"" to the image...

The symmetrical lights next to the head are somehow distracing and science-fiction like, IMHO. I agree with the other posts for the other two lights.
