EOS Bodies / Re: A Big Megapixel Discussion
« on: June 11, 2013, 08:32:53 PM »
My 2 cents, large MP bodies appeal to landscape shooters so a smaller body is more appealing.  Nikon made the same decision with the D800 series.  Sports and photojournalist shooters need higher frame rates which is mutually exclusive from high megapixels.  If Vanon has any sense, a high MP camera will be in a small body.

Not all wire transfers are electronic; some banks will cut a check which necessitates a mailing delay and a hold to ensure funds availability.  Fraud is sometimes perpetuated on merchants by having them electronically refund "wire transfers" before the funds have cleared.  I would be cautious if I were the merchant.

What recommendations do the forum members have for someone with a 5D2 and 1D3 for everyday carry-along flash?  580EX 600EX or 3rd party?

“D— —– —- AF”

Someone else said it's 6 times faster than the EOS M.  Nothing personal about that input but hummm, isn't 6 times zero (or almost zero) still zero?

No, it is 1/6 as slow as the M

EOS Bodies - For Stills / Re: what to do

failing that buy 4 1Dx bodies and 2 of each and every Canon L series lens 12 Ex600RT flashes

oh better get a couple of 5Dmk3 for backups and so you can do continuous RAW video with Magic lantern

that should about cover it :P

I actually met someone like that  He currently has 2 1DX, 2 1D4, 1D3, 5D3, 5D2 and every L glass and Canon accessory.  He put down photojournalists because some of their work is in black and white and he never shoot jpeg because it's for the lesser shooters.  I watched him at an event and he spent more time fiddling with his gear than shooting.  He was shooting with a ring flash at a sporting event.  He told me he is a first adopted of everything Canon releases and would never sell any old body because their actuations are so low.

Third Party Manufacturers / Re: [advice] My last tripod

I just picked up an Induro CT-114 with the PHQ1 head.  For under $500, I thought it was an exceptional deal.

I found what looked like a great Amazon Warehouse deal on an Induro CT-114 Tripod and an Induro PHQ1 5 way head for under $500 for both.  Did I do alright?  $678 is the normal on-line price.  Induro seems to be a rather good manufacturer.

Lenses / Re: Tilt-Shift Lenses

I never considered using a 1.4TC with a TS-E.  Do you think that, with the  exception of losing 1 stop and some IQ, I can approximate a 24mm TS-E using a 17mm TS-E with a 1.4x TC?  I do like the flexibility of using filters on a 24mm TS-E for outdoor work.   I will have to decide after shooting the 24 and 45

Short of test driving all of them, is there a guideline regarding choice of focal lengths for TS lenses.  What are the typical needs met by 17mm, 24mm, 45mm, and 90mm TS lenses?  Does it differ is a FF, APS-H, or APS-C body is used?  I just shot the 17mm and it seems to be better suited for large subjects and shooting from lower elevations.  I will shoot the 24mm next.

Thanks

Are you  saying that the Samyang is closer to the Canon 24mm TS-E Mark II than the Mark I?

There may be a lag as today's inventory was purchased months ago with a stronger yen.  Maybe if the dollar stays up against the yen for a couple more months or as the higher cost inventory sells down will we see price drops across the board.  Or they can just reap extra profits.....
