Third Party Manufacturers / Re: B&H or Adorama
« on: April 15, 2014, 11:43:04 PM »
Would love to order from Adorama sometimes.  But their shipping to Canada just isn't on par with B&H.  I just tonight loaded up a cart at both Adorama and B&H.  Many similar or identical items.  Only difference is a refurbed SL1 in the cart at B&H.

Adorama total = $1079 + $244 shipping (UPS which I hate)
B&H total = $1544 + $228 shipping (Purolator)

Both including customs clearance.

Not sure why shipping from Adorama should be more on a smaller $$ order than B&H.  My guess is because they are using UPS shipping to Canada which everybody knows is pretty much the biggest ripoff around.

So, B&H continues to get my monies.

EOS Bodies - For Stills / Re: Thinking of swapping a 5d3 for a 1D4.....

I am a sports guy.  So I just traded my like new, hardly used 5DIII to the fellow I sold my 1DIV to.  Got my 1DIV back.  Nice to have it back home.  I never used the 5DIII anyways.

Old pic.  But ya, I keep my boxes.  And prefer to buy used with a box.

Canon General / Re: CPS Canada Shipping
« on: July 09, 2013, 06:37:33 PM »
did you get contacted by CPS before sending 1dx?  I am still waiting for notice!

thx

I just sent mine in.  First one last week on Wed. afternoon.  CPS sent email Thurs. morning with copy of Service Details.  Had it back Fri. afternoon.  Sent second one yesterday.  Got email of Service Details this morning.  Guessing I will have it back tomorrow afternoon.

Kudos to CPS Canada for the prompt service and turnaround.  From Sask. to Ont. and back in less than 48 hrs.

I think even the review here recently focused more on the use case of it being a good portrait lens. What else would you use the lens for?

Indoor sports for me, where 2.8 just won't cut it.

Any commentary on the  auto-focus performance?

Exactly.  I am a sports shooter.  Fantastic optics are of no use to me if the thing can't focus quickly and accurately.  And based on my previous experiments with Sigma lenses, they are very much lacking in that dept.  So, its only Canon USM for me.

I have had excellent results with FoCal Pro on all my bodies and lenses.

EOS Bodies / Re: 5D III or 1D IV for sports!

For mainly sports, I would (and do, or rather did before I switched to 1dx's) go with the mk4 over the 5d3 every time.

EOS Bodies / Re: First Round of EOS 7D Mark II Specs [CR1]

If these specs are close, I would buy one.  I think it would make a nice remote camera for the sports work I do.  So long as they improve the high ISO over the original 7D.
