EOS Bodies / Re: IPad Wireless Tethering

Been using the camranger since christmas and I can attest this is the way you want to go. Easy setup, connect flawlessly and so much control. I can't believe I was using the WFT dongles. I am still waiting for the full function PC version (still in BETA) for laptop tether.

Sure have. The connection is so easy it puts the Canon WFT dongle I bought for 1DX to shame. For me though as predominately a Android and PC user the wait for these updates has been making me mental  :o (I currently dust off my old Ipad to use).

Wrong ethics? That would depend on the purpose or usage of the photo. As some have pointed out if entered into a competition that clearly stated only crop, colour balance and some sharpening are allowed then of course you couldn't enter the 'enhanced' version.
This would also hold true if you wanted to submit as part of a news or reportage story.
Otherwise anything goes.
I myself do not hold to the belief that once a photo enters Photoshop it's no longer photography as most of these so-called fantastic edits were being done long before Photoshop ever existed. Photoshop like any camera, or lens filter or artificial light is but a tool, use them as you see fit to get the image you want.

Software & Accessories / Re: Lightroom 4.2 update
« on: October 03, 2012, 03:20:41 PM »
When I installed my Lightroom 4 upgrade the preview build was reset to minimal and this caused what seemed to be horrendous performance slowdowns. It also stopped building previews on import so not only were the previews being built minimal but they weren't even being built until I first tried using the Develop module.

I also set the standard preview size (catalogue settings) to the first listed reso-size longer than the longest edge of my monitor, for example monitor= 1920x1200 then Standard Preview Size=2048.

After changing my preview setting I deleted my preview folder and now rebuild the previews for each folder as I need them. Takes about as long as an import but once done everything is nice and zippy again.

Warning regarding this update: I recently applied it to my TT1 which I use to trigger the PowerMC2 receivers on my Einstein640s. I was shooting with the 1Dx and everything seemed to be working well until I tried some High Speed sync, which wouldn't work.
I applied the update to discover that now the TT1 wouldn't fire on my 1Dx. I then read the release notes (I know...facepalm) and discovered the update of course doesn't support the 1Dx. Oh well I'm about to start a shoot so I swap to the 1Ds MKIII. Doesn't work. Test button fires the flash but the cameras won't. Swap to 1Ds MKII, which works but only syncs a 1/60.
I course don't know if this applies to all combinations of Mini TT1 and receiver with te canon 1Ds line but if you are using this combo I would definitely hold off on the update as there appears to be  NO way to ROLLBACK the firmware.

UPDATE: Pocket Wizard sent me firmware file that allowed me to take it back to version 6.0. No hi speed sync with the 1dx but at least it does fire up to 1/125.
