Thanks for all the replys.

I'm still trying to make my mind up. I'm wondering has anyone tried the Sigma 120 - 300mm f/2.8 lens on the 5d mk 3. (sorry to say the "S" word on the Canon website)

I think if I used the 1.4 Tel converter it would make it a 120-300mm f/2.8 lens as a 168- 420mm f/4 lens.

A 420mm f4 would be epic (is this a possibility, has any one tried this???)

Can you use the canon 1.4 on a s Sigma lens??

I was about to upgrade to the 5D iii (currently have 50D) but just before I do I want to check with the many Pros and Arm Chair Pros on here if it would be right for me.

I want to shoot Aviation and animals, some landscape and Family (non portrait, just nice shots)

I can spend up to £8000 ($12000), however saving money always helps.

I have currently 70-200 L IS 2.8 and 24-105 IS L 4.0

The options then FF or not to FF. 600mm f4 or will the 400m F5.6 do it's a lot cheaper? Which Body? Which Lens? Extenders? (I had one 2x mk ii on a 70-200 and did not like the quality)

Any other combos you guys can think of?

Thanks for all the reply's. I'm very limited by equipment, using a flash with extension cord is as crazy as it gets. I like the idea of a reflector. The flash is harsh on the second one..

As for the job, It is to be Jack Sparrows at Disney Land (Paris)....

justsomedude: I used small LED lights that go on key chains. Need to keep it pointing at the lense when using 
                         them.

rpt: Canon 50D / 166 Seconds / 13mm / f10 / ISO160 Wireless remote. Flash gun to light the inside of the bus
       at the front.

pj1974: It was just one take. Having done a few of these I have developed a better method for referencing.
            Say if I draw legs, I will start at the waist, keep a finger at that point then draw the leg. Back to my
            finger to draw the other leg and so on

             It was all myslef, and LED key chain lights.

Thanks for the replays. I'm fully aware of the 1.6 loss in crop factor if I go FF. I'm interested more in the technology advances that a current camera would bring over my current 50d.

Video would be small use.

Images - Animals, Landscapes, aviation and some sports.

I have 70-200 2.8 IS (mk 1) and 24-105 so should work on any body I believe.

The auto focus on the 50d is not as quick/ accurate as I would have hoped for.

My wife is going across the pond in a few weeks and has agreed to get which I choose.

I'm aware of the 1.6 loss going FF, however others have said that this is not to much of an issue for the higher MP.
