Canon General / Re: Announcements in August [CR1]
« on: August 02, 2012, 03:07:38 PM »
Since I bought a 16-35mm L last week, the new lens will almost certainly appear.

I wouldnt be mad about it if I were you. Even IF there will be announcement for 14-24 f/2.8 L I doubt it will be availabe right away. Maybe next year, maybe even next august. We have learned that lesson with super teles and 1D-X. 24-70 f/2.8 L II availability has been pushed too, couple of times.

I would assume that they collected all stuff just for olympics to be in one place. They could divide it into regions to support different events around the globe for CPS members.

I dont think they sell it as "refurbished/used". If you think for a while: how many shutter actuations could 1 pro photog take during covering (lets say) one day ? 5 000 ? 10 000 ? even more ? And Im sure that 1 camera goes thru different hands.

Just my 2 cents.

I would love to have my EF 24-70 f/2.8L with IS! In a dark church it would make a huge difference!!!

You can get the new Tamron. Ive heard it is little sharper than 24-70 f/2.8 L and has IS.

Let me add one thing you're missing :

  • Want high-res & high DR ? - suffer and die

;D right now you are right. There is no visible improvement of DR in current Canon sensors.

But, it might be improved with "rumored" high MPx body. Ive heard everything from 32 MPx, 45 MPx to 47 MPx. According to rumors posted here and on NL it is possible that such body could come in 2013.

Have you heard of Pixel Kings ? I have 1+1 set and Im pretty pleased with it.

One issue is that you need to use 1.5 V batteries in them. With 1.2 V (basicly all rechargable ones) batteries they do not work properly (seems like they need higher voltage). But they do HSS and rear curtain sync on my 450D so 5D Mk II shouldnt be a problem.

You should be able to get set 2+1 for around 230 USD. Pixel currently doesnt have AC-3 like zone controller. But everything is accessible via flash manu in your camera (when you use them with EX IIs).

Check reviews on net and youtube  ;)

Will they put a battery life monitor on this one?

Battery monitor/meter would be very welcome  ;)

So summarizing your findings we are 100% sure, that such a lens exists or doesn't exist.

;D Im in the group that thinks the pic is heavily photoshopped.

I just wanted to summarize everything about this "lens" and possible upgrade for 135 f/2 L at one place  ;)

Lenses / Re: Canon EF 135 f/1.8L IS

So a quick round-up: - 135 f/1.8 L IS mentioned - 135 f/2 metioned - 135 f/2 II mentioned - 135 f/1.8 L mentioned - just post mentioning upgrade of current model - 135 f/2 L IS mentioned - 135 f/1.8 L IS mentioned, also mentioned that 2 versions were tested

So let me count (in last 2 years):
3 posts mentioning 135 f/1.8 L IS (including current one)
1 post mentioning 135 f/1.8 L
2 posts mentioning 135 f/2 L IS
2 posts mentioning 135 f/2 L II
and 1 without given aperture and IS info.

Lenses are quiet hard to preddict but rumors say that there are 4 possible versions:
  • 135 f/1.8 L IS
  • 135 f/1.8 L
  • 135 f/2 L IS
  • 135 f/2 L II

I agree that it looks like a fake.  But then...I said the same thing about the first image of the 24-70mm II...   :-[

I'd be happy to be wrong again!

...yes, yellowish front element looked like fake on 24-70 Mk II. 24-70 Mk II available ? ;)  ;D

But I would be happy if such a lens like this exists.

Looks fake to me too.

It looks like a merger of current 100L Macro and 24-70 f/2.8 L USM II.

...but...Im sure many of us would want such lens  ;) Could this be THE mysterious lens from post about new tilt-shifts ?  :)

Great, my 600EX-RT needs a friend and someone to talk to.    Don't kill us on the price Canon.

Dont kill us on the price Canon. - Right ! If the price is too hefty I wont bother and get another 430 EX II when its still available.

+1 to both!

A non-video FF with weak AA filter and a 5D3 sensor and capabilities (with NO swivel screen) would be the my dream camera  ::)

I would be happy just with stills as you. But lets be realistic, I doubt that Canon would introduce "stills only" camera. No swivel screen is very real, I think :) Like I said before, I would be happy with 7D/5D Mk II-like body (mag-alloy body and partial sealing), same video (or little better then) 5D Mk II, 7D metring, 7D AF and good ISO to 6400. Anything more would be a plus.

Canon is so stupidly shortsighted!

[X] No, I will not throw away my 580EX II and 430EX/IIs!
[X] No, I will not buy a single 600EX-RT or ST-E3-RT until such RT-receivers are available.

If they wait any longer, Canon will get burnt by the Chinese rip-off manufacturers who are undoubtedly already reverse-engineering the RT-protocol and will bring out those damn RT-receivers and RT-master units any time soon.

[X] Yes, if they deliver the goods before Canon does, I will happily buy a Yongnuo or Phottix ["Odin RT"] master controller unit plus matching RT-receivers.

+10 on that.

But...IF such product comes from Canon it will be pricy. Maybe around 150-200 USD to compensate the difference from current models to new RT models.

Im still happy with Pixel Kings.
