I have an aluminium Benro A-058-M8. This is their 0-series classic travel tripod. I also have a Gitzo 1542T.

From the build quality point of view Benro is really nice. The twist locks are smooth and lock positively. The metal parts are also high quality. For the amount of money I paid (around $80 about three years ago) it is an absolute bargain. That being said the Gitzo is slightly better in all aspects, but with a steep price. Bottom line is if you have the money or are in need of the best tested tripods in the world, go for the Gitzo or RRS. If you are on a budget, the Benro's will give you 90% of what the more expensive brands will, at around 1/2 or less of the price.

Pricing is not too surprising considering Canon's recent trends.

Both lenses are quite a bit overpriced IMO, so I'll pass.

I am a little surprised that so many people were not able to get their hands on this unit. They have been available at numerous authorized dealers at similar or even lower prices compared to BHphoto since launch.

Those thinking about making the jump to radio should do it. It is awesome not having to worry about LoS and the all-in-one package of the 600EX-RT is both more compact, less expensive (vs. 580EX II + PW) and more reliable than other wireless solutions.  Huge downside is that it is quite expensive to upgrade exisiting gear. I am optimistic though  that a third party manufacturer will make adapters compatible with Canon's RT system so that you can used any flash (Canon, Yongnuo, Bowers, ect) with the system.

I bet Canon sells a ton of these at BestBuy to soccer moms who will be told all about the benefits of a FF sensor and in a not so intimidating body.

Enthusiasts will most likely stay away as the excellent 5D2 offers a great value right now. Seriorsly Canon? One cross point AF point?!? Better snatch the 5D2s up while you can.

Congrats. You will definitely love your camera. For me, coming from a crop body, it was a huge jump in IQ and high ISO shooting. And despite what some would lead you to believe, the Mark II still takes breathtaking photos even thought the Mark III version came out. At the price you paid it is a steal.

I am glad that I got Tamron 24-70mm VC.  No more waiting...

I was definitely temped by this lens. It receives great reviews and considered at least on par with the Canon 24-70 f2.8 Mk I in terms of IQ and has VC to boot! However, having the zoom ring turn the opposite direction was the deal breaker for me.

Although I share your frustration, good luck finding some of Nikon's more popular glass in stock at a reputable authorized dealers. Generally speaking, Canon's supply chain is superior to Nikon's. The grass is not always greener on the otherside.

For me, as one who preordered back in February, this news is beyond inexcusable!  Canon's photographic division must be completely inept.  At this point, the ONLY thing keeping me with Canon is the TS-E 17mm.   If Nikon comes out with a comparable lens, I'll switch in a heartbeat.

Any new news on a 430EX II replacement with radio? I am waiting to go full radio with my system and get rid of my older flashes and would love to have a cheaper alternative to the 600EX-RT. Maybe I shouldn't hold my breath though.
