Back in the 1920's and 1930's these groups were monoploistic and were called zaibatsu.

americans under occupation "demolished" those tradehouses that they would not cause thread for american companies so they would have time to catch the markets before there is competition from other countries  ;)

Also Zeiss and Voigtländer are making co-operation. Since same factory manufactures both brands they are using same parts. Zeiss and Voigtländer Canon lenses have exactly same bayonet parts. I haven't opened lenses (yet), but maybe the electronics are same also in aperture controls?

Last week I phoned one shop in Helsinki and asked when the Zeiss 135 mm APO Sonnar will be available. Availability was on December, so I thought that they would now know more detailed date. They said that they got news letter from importer that new APO Sonnar will we available on January 2013.

Maybe on meantime I'll buy older C/Y version of 135 mm Sonnar...  :P

Third Party Manufacturers / Re: Does Zeiss glass ever go on sale?

One dealer in Europe is selling Zeiss lenses with 20-30% discount compared to normal prices in Europe:

They rarely go on sale.

Lenses / Re: Sigma 180mm 2.8 Macro

You're probably this forum's first owner of the Sigma 180mm f/2.8 so you could start a new thread in Image & Video Galleries >> Lens Gallery. I look forward to seeing more.

I would also be interested to see more photos with this new lens :P

Hopefully Sigma won't redo this lens like they did with 120-300mm lens...

If you just purchased the 5D3 and it's still under warranty, service center is free.

I am planning to buy 5DmkIII. During first year warranty would cover pixel fixes, but it's quite troublesome send camera back and forth. After warranty is over service center will charge from pixel fixes. ???

Has some one tested that old sensor cleaning trick with 5D mkIII and found it working?

In my 50D latest firmware update disabled that sensor cleaning trick. Sensor cleaning trick will not remap hot not stuck pixels anymore  :'(

I think that Canon had took that feature out and only way to fix hot or stuck pixels is to send camera to service center.

I am planning to buy 5D mkIII and it would be good if broken pixels could be repaired without sending camera to service center.
