EOS Bodies / Re: 1DX Worth the Money?
« on: August 18, 2012, 10:12:00 PM »
$3,500 would be nice!

I know the camera will maintain its value but the onesi find seem to be like buying it new lol. And I still like the dx because of the ISO Preformance and 14 amazing fps lol! But I'd love to see some images if u post them in the dx thread or wherever! Cause dx will be better than mark 4 but really only 2 less mp and 10'fps? How is the make 4's ISO Preformance!? Like at most indoor arenas I've shot in, well hockey I think I was at 800-1000 iso but football etc you don't have that white ice reflecting light, but has the mark 4 iso like 500-2000 ish?

Third Party Manufacturers / Good Wireless Mic For Video??
« on: August 18, 2012, 09:08:24 PM »
I have a canon hf m500 and am looking for a wireless mic I can use with it that I can use for video. There are a lot out there but so many say the ones for $100 are crappy and I don't want to spend like $600. I'd be using outdoors and in doors. When outdoors the camera would be aside filming me I guess while I take pictures type of deal while I talk. So something with decent range that's affordable and compatible with the camera lol.

Technical Support / 60D Dust Help
« on: August 18, 2012, 08:07:16 PM »
So the sensor is spotless, however when you look through the view finder you can see specs of Idk what. Guessing dust, and my local camera cleaner guy said it was in the mirror which he doesn't clean because it has to stay at a certain angel etc and didn't want to mess with it. So my question is the dust and stuff in either the mirror or somewhere in the view finder don't affect the images in anyway but are a super pain because Its blocking my view when shooting macro and some landscape. So if anyone knows exactly what it is or how to slove it please let me now but if it has to be sent to canon so be it

Well I made my final sale decision today.  I did not go with a second 1DX, but rather kept my 1D Mark IV and sold my 1Ds Mark III and a 5D Mark III I had earlier.  I really like the colors and extra reach with IQ on the 1D Mark IV for outdoor sports.  So yes, one 1DX was probably worth the 6800 but I decided the 1D4 was so good I wanted to keep that, and then the 5D3 for weddings/baby photos and quiet sports like tennis and golf.  Either way on the 1D4 you won't be disappointed, should you choose that route.

I decided to go with a 500 f4 instead of the dx and I'm now looking for a 1d3 or 1d4 :)! The 4 would be nicer with the 16 mp but most with pretty high shutter count seem to all be $4,500+ when new they were $5,000 I think lol but thanks for your post!

Lenses / Re: NEED HELP!!! 70-200 F/2.8L IS II USM vs. 70-200 F/4L IS USM

I started with the f/4 to save money for other lenses I wanted, but then used a friends f2.8 and you can't beat the 2.8 the f4 is a good lens but in my opinion the 2.8 beats it!

I focused on the word "mixed" and so far this looked the best of all the other adjustments

I know a couple of shots were 1000 or 1250, but most of the time I was just on av just so I could capture them faster, so I'll try bumping up the iso and try to be at least 1/2000. But my settings were iso 100 f4.5 on ap priority, with al servo, with no flash. However, on...oh 80% of the shots the birds were stationary ish I believe haha sometimes they would bob their head in for food and out and so I would just hold down the shutter trying to always be right in the eye at 6fps and they'd be sharp unless I zoomed in in post or cropped closley. As far as the tripod, its a gitzo... Explorer so it's not as sturdy as some of the other beefyer ones, and it's just a standard ball head. I actually posted another thread about what kind of gimbal head to get lol, so maybe it's not micro adjustment at all?? Haha maybe it's my nooby lack of super tele lens with a non sturdy set up

Lenses / 500mm f/4.5 focusing help?!?!?
« on: August 16, 2012, 04:34:29 PM »
So I recently got a 500mm f/4.5 I bought the lens of course for the focal length. So, I popped it on the 5D mark 3 expecting the image quality to be fantastic! So, I went out front where I have a bird feeder, and set the lens on a tripod about maybe 20-30 feet away from the feeder. When birds would fly in and land bam, focus was snappy and lock on instantly to take the picture. The images looked dead sharp on my LCD. But when I put them in my computer non cropped or zoomed in the images would be sharp where I focused. However if I zoomed or cropped in to a bird the bird would be soft. Yet the feeder or something next to it would be sharp. So I tried micro adjusting the lens many many many many many many times lol, and cannot tell a difference. From far away, up close medium range they are all dead sharp and when I zoom or crop in I cannot tell a difference. They all look exactly the same. Does anyone know if maybe I'm to far away from the small bird and if I want to take a picture of one it needs to be closer? Or am I doing something wrong as far as using the lens sense I'm new to the super telephoto range?? Also, if the lens is at f/8+ they are super crisp and sharp. So if anyone can help please please post lol thanks
