Lighting / Re: YN-622 Reviews?
« on: September 28, 2012, 12:36:45 PM »

I don't have much expeirance with flashes so..
I had 60D nad YN-568 and as I remember I was able to put the flash in the slave mode and fire it up from the camera. The camera had buit in wirelles flash control.

I saw this YN-622 came up. I plan on buying 5D Mk III, but I still don't quite understand the flash part.

I understand one can put YN-622 on 5D mark III and use it as a trigger, but do you have to have it on each flash?
For example, if I had three flashes, would I have to put it one each flash and on camera? ...a bit confused.

Have you considered the new Tamron 16-24 f/2.8?

I belive you thougt of Tokina 16-28. I'm just checking some reviews on youtube.
Looks nice, but 16mm... I wish it was 14mm.

If lightroom's lens correction is able to fix Sigma's distortion it would be my first pick.

...ah, don't know what to say. I might end up buying Nikkor and a Canon mount.

I'm just worried about manual focus, not sure I'll be able to hit it right. On the other hand this shouldn't be so hard at these focal lenghts.

This looks nice, but I'm afraid what would the sharpness be when on FF.
I guess not so good as when on 7D.

This is another interesting review I found http://www.arthurdomagala.com/blog/2011/08/sigma-12-24mm-ii-lens-review/

Some problems with the distorsion, but if Lightroom lens correction did it's job well I woudn't mind.

This might save you some money DIY Lens Coat
I plan on making one for my 70-200.
The purpose is to be less noticable in public, but not sure if that's possible at all with that huge piece of glass  8)

Lenses / Re: How often do you use 35L @1.4
« on: September 25, 2012, 09:22:29 PM »

I just didn't have a lot of sucess with 35@ 1.4 especially due to the high CA.
On the other hand I've read that Lightroom 4.1 correct this issue with ease nowdays.

All this ideas of changing 35L came up after 24-70 II came and everybody talked about it's sharpness.

I mostly do street photography, but there are some ocasions when I'm indor and the lightning is bad.
However, 5dIII and 6d will tolerate high ISO so I don't see much of advantage of keeping 35L except for BOKEH

Has anybody a good reason to keep it and not change it for 24-70II?

Thanks for the info.,
The thing is he compared v1 of Sigma where v2 has some improvement and I'd like to hear some opinion and samples from guys using it. This is a good review I found though http://www.lenstip.com/326.3-Lens_review-Sigma_12-24_mm_f_4.5-5.6_II_DG_HSM_Build_quality.html , but...

Is there anybody else owning this lens perhaps? Can someone share his experience?
It looks quite interesting to me, just a bit worried about the quality.

I think this will be my choice until Canon comes up with a 14-24mm.
12mm must be crazy wide on FF.

Nice pic, I guess I'll have to put this lens on my camera and not take it off until I master it.
Otherwise it might end up sitting in the bag once I get 24-70II which would be a waist of the lens I've heard so many good things about.

Does anyone know if all autofocus points are -3EV or only the centre one?

Lenses / How often do you use 35L @1.4
« on: September 24, 2012, 03:42:42 PM »
I bought this lens a year ago and realized that I've been using it mostly at f/2.8 and it is because I started with f/1.4, but the sharpness wasn't as expected. I mean, when I put focus on some people who are in centre or next to it and everything else is behind it looks gorgeous, but if I'm to take a photo of a building or some big object than...

I guess I didn't get this tool well. What do you think this lens is most useful for and what styles should be avoided when using this lens?

Now I'm even considering selling it and getting 24-70 II, but I might miss the bokeh of 35L. :-\

...it'll end up with having both on my table, together with the filled divorce papers :-)
