EOS Bodies / Re: EOS 7D Mark II Information [CR2]

Once you owned 5D III, your 7D will more likely sitting in the bag & collecting dust.

Once you owned a 1dx, the 5d3 will look like a children's toy to you. But this is comparing apples and oranges, the 5d ff range is a completely other gear range - you get nearly two 6d or three 7d1 for one 5d3. So for those who'd like to keep their (one!) camera body price well below $2k, it will remain a struggle with Canon to decide either for good af/fps or low light capability.

Show me what your 1D X can do that make my 5D III looks like a children's toy.

I have all three. I love my 1D X and 5D Mark III but, they are different and the 1D X is all about speed and its huge buffer. And yes my 7D is sitting in the bottom of my camera bag collecting dust. I have a friend who is interested in buying it. In all consciousness I don't know if I can sell it to her. I really want to remain friends and I'm trying to convince her to put her money towards the 5D Mark III.

Yes, Adobe has it wrong. It should be Photoshop S (Subscription). What were they thinking?

The Shake Reduction Filter is worth the price of admission. If you haven't tried it you need to. Even images that appear relatively sharp seem to benefit from it.

Yes very nice. Haven't been back to visit this thread in awhile. Can't wait for the temperatures to be a little bit cooler to get back out and photograph the wild horses near me. Hopefully before the BLM decides to round up the three herds that are just down the road from me. Some of the stupid neighbors are saying some of the horses have been a nuisance and have complained to BLM. The whole community is in an uproar and BLM will prevail and do what ever they want to!!!!

Wouldn't I just love to have a an APS-C version of my 1D X. Same size, same battery, same control layout, same number of pixels and same image quality. I've dreamed of this camera. Canon could build one if they had a mind to......

Mine just came at 7:30 this evening. Got some business to do tomorrow morning. Will go out in the afternoon and see if I can find some of the wild horses out that are in the hills near my house.

That's right. Just checked the UPS tracking and it just left Hodgkins, IL (near Chicago). Another 1900 miles to Reno, NV. UPS tracking now says delivery on Thursday. Originally it was Wednesday.

Lenses / New 200-400 and latest camera firmware?
« on: June 07, 2013, 03:50:39 PM »
Anyone with the new 200-400, can you comment if AFMA is supported with the latest firmware on the 1D X, 5D Mark III and 7D? The latest version of EOS Utility (2.13.0) doesn't seem to have lens aberration correction data for the 200-400 yet. Just curious.....

My lens shipped yesterday (06/05) from Adorama. Delivery is next Wednesday (06/12). I pre-ordered on 065/13 around 8 PM Pacific time.

(Sorry about the typo on the pre-order date. Obviously it couldn't ship before it was ordered. But, you knew that.)

When I use the GP-E2 on my 5D Mk III with a battery grip and a Really Right Stuff L-Bracket the cable sticks out blocking most of the side portion of the L-bracket.  Does anyone know of a solution for this problem?

I assume you are mounting the GP-E2 in the flash hot shoe. If so the GP-E2 should communicate with the camera through the hot shoe without a cable.

Hey, it's no worse than the depreciation hit you take when you drive that new pickup out the dealer door, Maybe less.
Let's see, I could sell the 500 f/4 and the 1D MK IV and still have only $3–4K to come up with.
Wait... it weighs more than my 500 f/4? In that case, I'll just borrow a 200-400 from CPS when I need it.
I'm also, basically, with those shooters who would be happy a new 100-400 although, the way Canon prices are going, even that lens may break the $4K barrier.
It's a good thing the new 800mm Nikkor is $18K or I'd be worried that Canon is going to pass Nikon for the most expensive lenses. The upcoming new 800mm Canon may, however, continue the skyrocketing Canon lens price trend and take the lead again.

So, I bought my 500mm f4 IS at the end of 2001 for $6,200 and sold it last year for $5,000. Thats 11 years for $109 a year. What about depreciation?

I ordered mine last night from Adorama. I just turned 65 and I figure you only live once, time doesn't wait.
