Is it me or do I not see samyang under this list when searching for it?

http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/multi/lens-profile-support-lightroom-4.html

rokinon=samyang=bower

Adobe lists the lens under samyang , but it's all the same

Also http://learn.usa.canon.com/resources/articles/2012/1dx_guidebook.shtml has a PDF that applies to the 1DX and 5D3 AF system that actually explains all the modes in detail.

EOS Bodies / Re: 1DX - issues in low light at reception
« on: August 13, 2012, 06:40:22 PM »
This is known! Spot AF is slower in low light than other modes period I believe AND in the 5D3 manual on page 77 (also somewhere in 1DX since same AF system) it states

With Single-point Spot AF, focusing with the Speedlite's AF-assist beam may be difficult
If the camera cannot focus with the EOS-dedicated Speedlite's AF-assist beam, set the AF area selection mode to SINGLE-point AF (Manual selection) and select the center AF point to focus.

EDIT: It does take longer. In the 1DX AF Setting Guidebook on page 27 it says

As [Single-point Spot AF] only focuses on one very small area, it is not really suited to capturing fast moving subjects when set to AI Servo AF and may take longer to focus than other AF area selection modes.

Software & Accessories / Re: Are lens skins worth it?
« on: July 02, 2012, 11:55:08 AM »
I have a few, I like them for the looks more than anything. I've gotten a few comments about it so I actually think it attracts MORE attention. They help a little for protection especially the lens coat ones but the lens skins are pretty thin. Overall, sorta worth it depending on what you want but they can be difficult to change or remove at times but I still like them.

EOS Bodies - For Stills / Screen Color Option on 5D3
« on: May 14, 2012, 02:41:35 PM »
This is going to sound ridiculous but I swear this was available on the 5D3. I've searched the manual for "screen color" and "lcd color" and there's nothing. I could've sworn I've changed it before and my 550D has it, it might be a option available on lower end cameras for customization since honestly I don't think anything more than black on white and white on black is necessary but who knows.

If you don't know what I'm talking about it's the option to change the color scheme of the LCD between: black on white, white on black, yellow on black? and pink.

Cancel your order and purchase it from Adorama, this is my first time using them, I ordered on saturday and it was shipped today. It would have been shipped the day I ordered had it not been for their holiday... If you order it from them tomorrow, you'll more than likely see it before the week is over.

Do this, I saw they got a shipment in over Passover, ordered yesterday, shipped today and cancelled my BH order.

EOS Bodies - For Stills / Re: 5D Mark 3 Queue @ B&H
« on: April 05, 2012, 02:35:23 PM »
I called B&H and they confirmed that they charge the day you place the order. Wanted to see how everyone else felt about that policy.

My experience is actually contrary to that right now, I did get a temp auth for the camera 2 days ago but it has since been removed.

Yikes. I'm going to be waiting forever! I just ordered yesterday, 4/4. I asked and was told they have no idea when my order will be filled.

Order #1020107***

Tell me about it haha ordered on 4/3 and 1020102xxx so not that much more in front -_-

Yahoo!!!    10198004xx  03/06/2012   In stock, order sent to warehouse

That means they've cleared out all the initial preorders I believe which is probably a lot. Hopefully the ones after will clear faster since there's probably less order numbers related to the 5D at that point.

If you need/want the 24-105, the kit is really a good deal, it saves you about $350 on the lens.  If you don't and sell it for say $1K, someone is still saving $150 and you're "making" $200 or essentially getting the body for $3300 instead of $3500.  Win/Win for everyone.  I'm not saying that should be your motivation for doing it that way, but it's a good solution to a problem.

That's what I initially thought at first too but after browsing a few places I can only find people selling it for slightly over 800 which is pretty much negligible in terms of total cost on top of having to spend the effort to find a buyer. I think the flood of 24-105 from kit may have lowered the street price?

Aish, just ordered yesterday at BH. Probably won't see it until May, makes the kit and sell the 24-105 really tempting

That's what I did.  I pre-ordered a 'body only' on 3/2, but when I didn't receive a ship notification on the 22nd(and was told on the phone that I was not going to be in the first wave by B&H) I ordered the kit on 3/22, received it the morning of the 23rd and after giving it a little workout that Saturday, cancelled my body only pre-order that Sunday.  I wasn't going to cancel until I had one in-hand.  I saw where a LOT of people ordered from other dealers who said they had them in-stock and immediately cancelled their original pre-orders and then got hosed because that dealer really didn't and then they "lost their place in line" when they cancelled with the first dealer.

At the same time I really don't want to deal with selling the 24-105, I do have a 24-70 and the 70-200 already but I keep hearing about how the 24-105 is a nice walkaround general purpose lens but I'm not sure I see the need for it yet for me.
