If your looking to shoot landscapes your looking at the completely wrong system.. I own Pro and Semi Pro DSLR from both Canon and Nikon.

my recommendations for a camera in your price range would be a refurbished D7100. the reason for this is simple, it has more pixels and it has a much larger dynamic range then any thing canon offers. It also lacks a AA filter which allows for more detail. the dynamic range is worlds better on Nikon cameras. I own a D7100 as a back up body. I bought it nikon refurbished for $850 at the end of last year. Its massively better than the 7D i used to own. that thing was horrible for landscapes as the dynamic range was very limited and you couldn't push the shadows at all with out seeing noise and vertical lines...

if you cant afford the D7100 the D7000 is also a nice camera which offers a huge improvement in dynamic range over the 7D at the cost of only 2mp 16vs 18 of the 7D. not a huge factor in my book..  the run around the $600 mark these days used. also both the d7100 and d7000 are superior in low light to the APSC canon bodies by about a full stop.

is anyone quite surprised with the results of the 5d2? i just got one in the other week and it focus's better then my T4i which has 9 cross type point...

I love Kai, he is funny know. For a second there i thought his video buddy was dressed up as a priest to help him get in the church lol. The priest looked as skinny as his video guy. All in all its a tough one to add up but for those who had the original 5d which the 5dm2 shared the focus system of, most of the PJ people felt let down by having to use focus recompose all the time. I still can't believe Canon gave it this wimpy focus system...

that was his camera guy dressed as a priest lol it was from a previous episode. :) they are fun to watch sometimes.

Lenses / Sigma 50-150 2.8 OS vs Canon 70-700 2.8 IS II for crop cameras
« on: August 27, 2012, 08:38:44 PM »
so its been boggling my mind lately as to why there have not been more reviews of the new Sigma 50-150 2.8 OS.. this lens is some serious piece of kit that rivals the image quality of canons flag ship lens that cost more then twice as much.

i think for anyone who uses a crop cameras that this lens is a no brainier over the canon lens especially if you don't need the extra 50mm reach of the canon.

I recently sold my 70-200 2.8 is II and bought both the Sigma 50-150 2.8 OS and the Sigma 17-50 2.8 OS ... both which are fantastic lenses with basically L quality glass. This makes me think that sigma is finally starting to come into its own... it also shows how over priced the canon lenses really are... after selling the canon 70-200 and buying the Sigma lenses i was still left with close to $400 lol.

does anyone else have any other input on this matter?
