Lenses / Re: Lens price drops around the world

After you just posted this I went to amazon.de but they are dropping prices. 70-200 f2.8 L II is available from amazon for  € 1896.96
So maybe this example wasn't that good. Sorry.
Wasn't trying to be critical, no need to be sorry about anything.

Has anyone heard of any other Canon branch doing likewise?
Here in Germany I've seen no official information from Canon Germany.
But I've seen some price drops at some retailers that they declare as "Preissenkung" (=price drop) so no rebate.
Big dealers like amazon.de haven't followed the price drops yet.

I've told this before in the US price drop thread.

But for example:
The EF 70-200mm f2.8 L IS II USM has dropped from about 2.050 € to 1.900 € (MSRP at 2.519 €)
The EF 8-15mm f4.0 L USM Fisheye has dropped from about 1.200 € to 1.130 € (MSRP at 1.469 €)
The EF 135mm f2.0 L USM has dropped from about 1.000 € to 800 € (MSRP at 1.179 €)
After you just posted this I went to amazon.de but they are dropping prices. 70-200 f2.8 L II is available from amazon for  € 1896.96

Prices in the Netherlands have been dropping from the moment the Canon Summer rebate thing ended. The 70-200 f2.8 II L has dropped below 2000 euros incl. VAT (21%)
http://tweakers.net/pricewatch/251574/canon-ef-70-200mm-f-28l-is-ii-usm.html has a graph at the bottem of the page with prices since introduction.

@Cervantes, currently looking at your website on my home Mac no strange antivirus crap at home. Not a clue why it didn't work at the office.

Did a small test using safari, chrome and firefox could not reproduce the problem Darson told you about on my Mac.

Like the design, but I don't like the use of Italic in the top menu. Makes it harder to read on mobile devices. And design wise there really is no point to using it.

Tried to visit your site but F-Secure antivirus doesn't allow me to. Seems your site has been reported as being hazardous.

Be honest, you thought the game was boring, and you were checking out Brazilian women.  ;)
I know I was!

Official Retail price in the Netherlands is 1359,00 euro inc. 21% VAT. Web shops are already taking pre orders at 1099,00 euro inc. 21 VAT.
Don't know if I am going to go for it, probably wait and see if prices drop a bit after a couple of months.

Congrats MarcPool  on your new toy ;)

Thanks, feels like Christmas came early this year. Especially because the shop seems to have made a mistake in pricing because it's up 100 euro's since this morning :P

Having seen prices only going up again at my favorite two stores I was kinda giving up on the idea of picking up a 5d this month. When I saw a very good deal (220 euro less) at a store less than half a mile away.
Decided to go for it, walked to the store and walked out 10 minutes later with my new 5d mark III. And a coupon for a free version of lightroom and Photoshop Express 11.
No were near the prices you pay in the US, but a very good deal for Europeans.

Only had time to take some test shots, but man AF is fast. And RAW files look amazing.

Thank you guys for all your advice. As soon as my tax refund gets in, I will go for the 5d mark III. I will also keep my 7d.

Hi,
I currently own a 7d. And I am pretty happy with it overall. The only thing that really bugs me is the amount of noise and losing lock in Servo trying to track fast moving objects.

Lens wise I think I’m ok to take the next step. I already own a 50 1.4, 24-105 L, 100 L and the 70-300 L. I don’t think I will miss the pop-up flash, probably used it less than 10 times in a year and a half.

Is the 6d the next logical step or should I go for the 5d Mark III. Both are within budget.

Don't forget to take a hat. Because Greece in August is HOT!

I took a 7d, 8-16 sigma and 24-105. Should have gone for the 24-105 and 70-300. Really missed the extra mm.
Take a variation of ND filters. The light can be really bright.

More belaboring ... more childish behavior. I've come to expect that though!

I just wish the mods made the "ignore" module of the forum a bit better.
