EOS Bodies / Re: Canon EOS 70D Coming in July? [CR2]
« on: May 21, 2013, 07:36:01 PM »
The 60D continues to sell well. There is no reason for canon to improve the sensor at this stage. They will milk the existing technology for as long as they can.

70D will be as much an upgrade as the 700D is to the 650D with wifi and GPS.

Prepare for disappointment.

Only a Canon will get better as it ages.

Bridge camera looks battered. Must of had some good testing from it. Hopefully a bigger sensor in these cameras.

Pricewatch Deals / Re: Canon EOS M w/22mm f/2 STM $399 New

Price is back to $399 from same seller.

Has anyone purchased a third party EF adapter? I see them going for 70-80 dollars?

the 90ex is worth it if you have another flash and want a commander.  that's how I use it anyway.

Good idea.  I have the Metz 50 so i mite just get it as part of the kit.

WTF is wrong with some people?? are you into photography or cosmetology?

Believe it or not their are people who look at their camera more than through it.
Cameras are becoming status symbols just like phones have become. If 5d's came in gold i'm sure some people would opt for it.

LOL

For those that have the kit flash. Is it worth getting it?

I see some decent ebay deals from HK with it.

Deciding on just getting 22 + adapter for 710 or 22. 18-55, flash + adapter for around 870.

My 2 cents.

AFMA to me is a diagnostic tool. It is there to get the most of your tool.
Same as a computer that gives you access to the bios to tweak settings.

Some people will use it and some people would care less. But its good to have the option to be able to get the most from your tool.

Canon should see it this way and not as a feature to get people to upgrade to better bodies. It doesn't cost them much and it might even get people talking about tweaking lens versus b****ing about this new camera.

Anyhow how come ML haven't come up with a solution for AFMA?

EOS Bodies - For Stills / Re: Cheapest way

Consider a flash as well. I purchased a faster lens hoping to get more keepers for indoor shots and found bounced flash made more of a difference.

EOS Bodies / Re: where to buy my camera

Online is the cheapest.

I would not buy from an Australian store as the price is considerably higher over there. Look on ebay for reputable international seller, you know how much exactly you are going to pay.

Its a hassle to shop overseas unless you are familiar with the area and don't mind shopping around.

If you are seeing the 6d as an investment then i would probably recommend getting the cheapest camera and putting the rest of the money in stocks. :) The 6D will most likely go cheaper. I see it resting around 1500 in the next 6 months.

On the other hand, if you value image quality and memories then i would recommend getting the best camera to help you take the best photo that you can reasonably afford.

You can't go back in time to retake the photo but you can always make more money.

EOS Bodies / Re: Canon Confirms 70D; Future of Semi-Pro DSLR is FF
« on: February 01, 2013, 03:23:05 PM »
If a 70D comes out FF, what specs is it going to have so that it sits below the 6D.

Can they strip the 6D further?

It's all marketing and the fact that canon is prolonging the life of its technology they have.

Compacts are still selling and no one wants to buy an older model when the competitors are releasing new features. For the average Jane, they are not going into detail about the technical features. They will read a few reviews, see how many stars and ask a few friends who swear by Canon gear.

New models also mean Canon can charge higher prices. Compacts will rise and fall like the ipod.

PowerShot Cameras / Re: The love for AA size batteries
« on: January 29, 2013, 03:31:44 PM »
I use to love AA's in my old kodak camera but the chargers and spare batteries were a pain to lug around.
I moved to a canon ixus a year later and I wouldn't even consider a camera that took AA batteries now.

Lithiums are quicker to charge
Smaller Charging unit
Batteries are lighter and easier to carry.
Spare Battery can be had for around 10-20 dollars on ebay (non OEM).

How many pics do you need to take before a recharge? I rarely take more than 200 photos in a day using a  compact. If i do find their are a lot of photo opportunities then i would be using my SLR anyway.

I'm on my 4th Canon compact and all the lithium batteries have outlasted the camera so far.
