And, for that matter, can we please just have the articulating screen already? Anyone that doesn't like it can just LEAVE IT WHERE IT IS. Seriously, I've needed one this entire week...and no, I don't want to go buy a dedicated monitor. That's a stupid suggestion.

Not sure why there is a lot of complaining. This camera sounds awesome! Not need for full frame. I have been waiting for an apsc camera to work well along side my 5d's. the spec list sounds great! Hope it sooner than later.

I wonder if the price is kit or body? My guess is its body. As long as they offer body option ill be happy I have no need for another kit lens.

Lighting / How to use flash with av,tv

I have a question that has been plaguing me for quite some time. I have searches every where but apparently I am not typing in the right search terms.
Whenever I have a flash on either 5d2/3 and it is in av,tv mode I feel as though the camera is not compensating for the flash. IE instead of an appropriate exposure of 1/60 it will be at 1" as though I didn't even have a flash on there. I felt as though it did this on my 60d when I still had it. By my 5d2 didn't. I assumed it was like the ISO 400 thing and would be fixed on 5d3.
However after using the 600exrt and 5d3 tonight it seems much more likely user error.
Please can someone explain this and possible some other flash thing like why it goes to ISo 400 ??
Or tell me where to look or how to play and figure it out.
This forum is so useful to me in learning the functions of some of the more technical sides of cameras.

My lightroom has been giving me problems ever since i purchased an sdxc and my 5dmarkiii. I dont believe its my mark3 since it works great with other memory cards.
If i use a USB to Camera it goes sometimes extremely fast or it will say there is an error with each file.
I i plug it directly in to the computer(macbook sdxc slot) it will go EXTREMELY slow or not at all.
Sometimes Finder even takes forever to find it. So i am trying to see if anyone else is having any problems with their memory cards and connection to lightroom to narrow down what my issue is.
The memory card i have is "PNY pro-elite x 128gb 45mb/s"
the version of lightroom is 4.3.
Thanks for any input as i am about to throw this thing out the window..

Probably 70-200 2.8 is ii for 1350 brand new and with a 4 yr accidental warranty.
I got it because my 70-200 broke under warranty so they upgraded me. Also how I got a 5d iii for 2500 brand new warranty.

Yeah I would have to agree with above. Keep the lens. It's worth it. I have both mark ii and mark iii of the 5d and the iii is a epic camera love shooting it. Make the ii feel a little relic like. Picture quality isn't dramatic but the camera is worth the upgrade. The downgrade on the lens would just limit your mark iii and you will miss it.

Also i should have mentioned this earlier but portability is a must. I will be using them traveling overseas most of the time.

Ok awesome! Thank ou for all your information. It seems that having an extender can really hurt and for now it would get me to the focal length I want.
I don't believe I do it enough to consider a 5k or more lens tho
I am in a position where I can really invest in lenses but I want to make sure I do it right.
This forum gives me great insight to what you guys are using or have used thanks again.

I am look at a longer lens for wildlife  and I need help picking out a lens.
Here I the options I see so far
1-70-200 already have but if I add an extender
2-100-400
3-400 5.6.

I don't know if I would miss the extra versatility of the 100-400 over the 400 5.6. And I am hesitant of a extender setup because I have heard image quality can be pretty bad.
I mostly looking at elk, deer, foxes from a pretty good distance.
Does anyone have any recommendations?

Lighting / Constant lighting vs strobe

I have become extremely happy with all of my lenses and bodies. I have been thinking for a while about investing in lighting. The only problem is I shoot a fair amount of video as well as pictures. I have heard of people using constant lighting for photographs but I am not sure of how good it is. I have seen these 1x1.5ft or so led light boards that are amazingly bright and have a color temp dial as well. Would that be the ticket?
Anyone have any experience or brands to recommend that will help get me started?

I cannot speak to all of your post but what your seeing in camera and initially on your computer are Jpeg previews. So when your nice vibrant images all go away its because the settings you have taken the raw image at(note they are setting that only effect jpeg like monochrom, sharpening etc. ) are being reverted the the raw image.
Realistically a lot of the features on the screen apply specifically to jpeg. And you initially see the jpeg preview.
Here try this simple test. Switch your camera to jpeg + raw and the turn it to a really artsy setting like monochrom or landscape  and then take a few pics. Then load it in your computer and you will see they are the same before the raw is opened fully. Even further I would encourage you to edit your raw and compare it to your jpeg. You will see its much more editable and you will be happier with the overall outcome better.

Magic lantern is an awesome additional software to your camera. It has some extremely useful features to your camera that are absolutely indespensible. I have used it one t3i,60d and 5d mark ii. I won't use it on my 5 d iii yet as its still in beta. There are a few gimmick settings but as usual you only have to use the ones you need. Haven't had a single problem. Read their website thoroughly as it will probably answer all your questions including the reliability as they(he) are very open. If you have a more specific question feel free to message me.
