EOS Bodies / EOS 6D Anti-Aliasing Filter
« on: February 07, 2013, 11:39:48 PM »
With the advent of Mosaic Engineering's VAF-6D Optical Anti-Aliasing Filter, one would hope that Canon would come up with a firmware solution... if possible. Maybe the 6D doesn't have the processing power to do it.
But, when a third-party offers a fix for a problem... you've really got a problem.
Here's the demo video:

EOS Bodies / April 2013 firmware update for EOS 5D Mark III

Adorama's website is saying that "a firmware update for EOS 5D Mark III is scheduled to be available in April 2013." What are the rumors for the forthcoming update?

Adobe Premiere Elements 11 is just $44.99 at Amazon right now!
(The current B & H price is $59.99.)
If you select the download option (and live in a sales tax charging state) you will avoid the sales tax.
I hope you get this before it expires!

EOS Bodies - For Video / Free and Inexpensive Video Editors
« on: November 04, 2012, 06:00:11 PM »
I'm looking for a free or inexpensive video editor.
My requirements are:
* Produce high quality videos
* Add titles
* Add music
* Currently only a single video source is planned (from an EOS 6D)
* Use externally recorded sound (sync & use)

Evaluating each of the reasonably rated free video editors looks like a daunting task:
•   Avidemux v 2.6
•   (Windows Live) Movie Maker v 2012
•   Blender 2.64a (cool interface!)
•   Jahshaka v2.0
•   Video Edit Master v 2.0
•   VSDC Free Video Editor v 1.2.1

If free won't cut it, I'd like to spend less than $100.

EOS Bodies - For Video / EOS 6D Recording Video & Sound
« on: November 04, 2012, 01:13:27 PM »
I'm doing my research on how best to shoot audio and video with the new EOS 6D. I see that the 6D does not have a headphone socket. And according to C|Net, the mic input is mono.
It looks like something like the Tascam DR-07MKII Portable Digital Audio Recorder would be a great audio solution.
Now for the question: What is the easiest way to do a one-person shoot involving camera movement when using an external audio recorder? Is there an easy way to mount the Tascam on something like the Opteka X-GRIP Camcorder Stabilizing Video Handle? Or do you just place the recorder out of view and move the camera and not worry about the mic moving with the camera?

Solutions? Suggestions?
The only thing that is set is the camera -- the EOS 6D.... plus, I will not be hiring a boom operator!

Canon General / Canon vs. Nikon from Google Trends
« on: October 10, 2012, 08:43:36 PM »
World Wide Web interest in "canon" as compared to "nikon" has been dropping since 2004. At some point, one would hope, Canon would do something to re-energize their brand:,%20nikon

On my screen, the features of show new posts and show replies are very hard to read and for a long time I didn't even know they were there:

Now that I know they are there, I struggle to distinguish them.

Third Party Manufacturers / Phottix Battery Grip
« on: September 27, 2012, 05:05:16 PM »
Does anyone have any experience with the Phottix Battery Grips? They seem to be about a third of the price of a Canon grip. If yes, please specify the camera for which it is used.
