Incredible contrast and clarity, and very sharp.

EOS Bodies - For Stills / Re: 5d2 officially discontinued.
« on: December 22, 2012, 09:13:11 AM »
Mine has been officially 'discontinued' too - I just sold it a few weeks ago while I could still get a decent penny for it!  That was the only reason I sold it, though.  Great pro-sumer camera!

I'll keep using my 1D MKIV until whatever comes after the 1D X gets here (yes, I'm patient).

Lenses / Re: Why no L primes from 14 to 24mm
« on: December 09, 2012, 12:55:35 PM »
Per your title, theres the EF 14mm f/2.8L II USM.

My next prime will be the TS-E 24mm f/3.5L II.

Both are L primes between 14 and 24mm and are as great as any.

If you spend all your time making a perfect product with zero problems ever, then you will go out of business because of product manufacturing costs. There has to be a balance, It's just the harsh reality of it all.

Very true.  The only complex software and firmware in existence that is certified to be absolutely bug-free is that of the NASA space shuttles.  Mechanical issues are a different animal, but their software is perfect.  As someone who has worked in firmware for the past 16 years, that boggles my mind - yet I know it is achievable... at great expense and personal cost.  You're just not going to get that in a camera.

I was sure the first service advisory would only issued after 2 weeks after general delivery (i.e. mid-December) - we should have taken a poll :-p ... my suggestion for the next one:

Hey, at least it wasn't:

Pricewatch Deals / Re: 5D Mark III now in Canon Refurb Store
« on: December 05, 2012, 05:31:06 PM »
True, you either pay it at the time of sale, or pay it on your State sales tax in April 2013.

Tax doesn't stop me from ordering with the Canon store. Their shipping is a little high compared to BH/Adorama/etc, though.  But the price savings on the refurbs often offsets that anyway.

I'm confused why the Canon Rep would be pushing DPP as better than LR in the first place.  Casually mentioning it - sure, but it's a free program to us, and a Development/support cost to Canon.  What benefit does Canon get when I use it?  So why would Canon even care to argue that it's better than LR?

This is beside the point of your question, but it puzzles me.
