I wonder whether this could form part of the announcement tomorrow?

Not sure how useful I'd find this, what with my fat fingers, I think I'd hit everything at once! Could be interesting though!

Its Monday today, tuesday is apparently the announcement day. I am staggered there are no details leaked already.

How the hell do canon manage to keep 100's of employees and any outside contacts, from leaking some info. I know about NDAs and all that but, a leak is just that an anonomous leak of information, by someone noone can pin anything on.

Either that or nothings being announced tomorrow :-)

I got told everyone gets locked in the building and they pull the phone lines til they've done the announcement.  They do provide bread and water though ;)

It's a 1Ds. You can see the extra "bump" at the top of the viewfinder that the hot show sits on. That extra bit is not on the 1D series.

on the second page quoted, the 1D on there appears to have a hotshoe bump.  Or is it just my eyes playing with me?

And the next page (also canon related)

I didn't notice the second page before.  Interesting that on all of the models shown at the bottom (1D, 1Ds, 5D, 7D), the area where the "Mk" badge is is obscured.  I know the 7D doesn't have one, but a MkII would ;)

Looking at the PDF, it's clear (or not!) that there's a pixelated Ds in the picture. Given that the 1Ds MkIII is 4 years old now, I don't think it's unreasonable that this is the hype for the 1Ds MkIV - the MkIII is now the longest running digital camera that Canon has produced (if my maths is right!)

I wonder whether they may do simultaneous announcements at the various different events, thereby bringing along a 5D MkIII as well.  No biggie if not, at least this should signal the beginnings of the next round.

Only a week to wait and see either which way.  Happy days  :)

Northlight Images (http://www.northlight-images.co.uk/cameras/Canon_rumours.html) have just reported on a CPS event in the Nederlands on 18th October.  Maybe we'll see something then...

If you want shot of it, I'll swap your mediocre 7D for my top-of-the-line, super-duper, all bells and whistles 400D!

anyone have a clue what time this "pro announcement" is supposed to be, or normally is?  i figured it's getting a bit late in the day for it now.  it's 3pm here in the UK now...

in the uk, it appears the 5dmkii is at it's lowest price yet (according to camerapricebuster.co.uk).

it's currently sitting at £1549.90 ($2427.45).  This appears to have dropped by about £200 ($313.24) over the past couple of months.  who knows why!

I'm not so sure... I dont think Canon has a mirrorless camera ready. I think there is a good chance there will be nothing announced tomorrow but if there is it should be a DSLR. Which one? I have no clue... Could even be a Rebel...

i hope something gets announced soon.  As for a rebel, looking at the past few releases, that wouldn't technically be due until q4.  But then i guess that only a matter of weeks away!

i don't think, in all reality,  canon will be introducing anything of interest particularly tomorrow (slr-wise).  It's been too quiet.  Unless they have figured out a way of keeping every last bit of information within the hallowed halls of Canon and have decided against any kind of launch build-up.  Bah.  You can feel something is close, it's almost tangible.  Just wish they'd hurry up :)

Hopefully, it will be something cool that we all care about (5DmkIII).

I certainly don't care about the 5DIII...

People that want the 7DII, what is wrong with you? The 7D is nearly new still and has tons of great feature that no other Canon camera has... What is wrong with it?

People that want a 5DIII, ok... This one needs an update I grant you that. Still, let's not forget the 1DsIII is more than 4 years old...

Tomorrow, if anything is announced it should be a 1DsIV or something like it. Maybe a 5DIII along with it. The 7DII is nowhere near...

so the 1DsIII is almost 4 years old.  The 5DII is almost 3 years old.  The 7D is almost 2 years old.

given that the higher up (more professional) a line is, the longer between replacements, it's not entirely unfeasable that these *could* all be replaced very close to each other.  canon may feel that they have some catching up to do post-tsunami and this round of replacements could be a fairly exceptional time.

that said, i've still got a horrible feeling that canon are going to introduce a mirrorless too, leaving all the SLR crowd rather disappointed!
