Canon General / Re: Canon \

i'm not entirely convinced that Nikon are finished with their announcements yet, so could be some surprises to come from Canon in response.  Despite releasing details of their mirrorless cameras, their I AM COMING campaign (http://www.iamcomings.com/) is apparently not due for another couple of hours yet.  I can't see that they'd start the campaign and then not bother with it and announce early without taking the site down.  Unless it's not Nikon at all...

Bugger!  Every time I hope for a new SLR rumour, it gets shot down.  I'm still waiting for a 7D mk II rumour.... Looks like that's a long time off yet!

And you hinted at news of an SLR announcement?

The duplicated page is back up at Canon Australia's site. It remains identical to the 5D Mark II page, however.

except that the URL stills shows it as the 6D:

http://www.canon.com.au/en-AU/For-You/EOS-Digital-SLR-Cameras/6D

Probably just a typo.....Would be nice to think they're getting the space ready for an imminent announcement, though I can't see that they would do it like that.

I still think we'll be waiting a good few months for any substantial announcements.

I really wish it was!  Somehow, I just imagine it's an administrative error with the website though.

There are software downloads available on the site now, I don't know whether they're the most recent ones though!

I figure even if they update the 7D, they'll still have the updates available for some time if needed.

I'll just wait (un)patiently until it comes out.  I haven't got the money quite saved up for it yet anyway!

it seems to have vanished again from the gigapan site.  they've obviously realised their error, whether that be typo or the premature announement of a new camera.  or maybe canon realised the error for them and pointed out the error of their ways! naughty gigapan :)

i would love 7d mk ii rumours, but i figure it's not going to happen for a while yet.  i'm guessing they have to get the big guns refreshed first, meaning we won't see a 7d update before the end of the year.  surely they've got to do the 1d(s) and 5d first!  i'm probably still not going to have the money for one by then, so will just keep saving and holding out for the replacement, whenever it may come.  in the meantime, i'll just make sure i get a computer that can cope with the files......my current one struggles with my 400d files, so no point in upgrading yet!
