I have missed shots because the lens cap was on!After the first few times I shot without film in the camera, I trained myself to verify that there was film winding....
And there was the time I forgot to load film in the camera and clicked a number of shots only to find the film on the table...
But just last night, grabbed the camera, went to take a shot, and the camera tells me that there is no memory card... You can dis-able that in the configuration menus, but why would you???
Actually when you look at lens design it wouldn't surprise me ( or disappoint me ) if the new 50mm IS is actually f2 in order for Canon to make it stellar wide open.
Since nowadays it's not difficult to prevent the lens from going wide open in any mode (or sticky dof preview), I'd prefer the manufacturer not to limit the speed of a lens to get max. iq wide open and favorable review curves. The most popular issue with the 50/1.2 also doesn't seem to be that it's soft @f1.2, but that it has a focus shift.
I'm thinking I should just become s landscape photographer because landscapes don't blink or move.
Take it back if you have any doubt. You are likely hearing the IS activate. He did state that his lens is a NON IS model so that would not be the case. I'd recommend taking back a lens that made a loud noise with the AF mechanism.
