May in ohio...and it's 40 out! >.<

the x100s sounds pretty amazing so far! I picked up an x-e1 myself and I absolutely love it. The pictures it can produce are just stunning.

Menus, controls, build, compactness and picture quality is up there with the best imo and it is making me really rethink owning a big dslr set up.

A new x-e1 + 35mm 1.4 lens! :D

lol because it's not possible for everyone to afford to commit to the costs of two high end pro dslr bodies and lens systems?

I actually just sold and switched systems.

I had a Canon 5DMK3 and I just converted to a Nikon D600, 50mm 1.2 ai-s and 28mm 2.8 ai-s.

There are certain things I am loving and hating so far. It's change and there is always growing pains with change.

I would say I prefer the 5DMK3 body - I don't believe however that Nikon was aiming to compete in build quality or styling with the 5D.

I think the Menu system for Canon is easier to navigate and use quickly - tho I'm sure Nikon users would say the same about their system vs. Canon. It's one of those things that will make sense in time - I think it's like trying to adopt a different language and you're trying to figure out what words mean what and remember it that way, so it becomes confusing.

I'm loving the picture quality I'm getting out of the D600 so far. Colors are amazing straight out of the camera and the images are unbelievably contrasty and sharp - extremely sharp.

I'm also loving the two lenses I picked up as well - tho that's a more personal choice - I love manual focus and these two are built like Zeiss - that old world metal feeling that just feels good in your hands.

Overall it was an easy decision for me to switch - my dad owns a D700 and every major lens that Nikon makes. It makes it easy for me to share without having to invest a ton of money.

Overall I'm pretty smitten with the D600, I miss certain aspects of the MK3 but it's an excellent switch.

Not sure how much that helps you, but that's where I'm at right now with switching over.

Canon General / Re: How do you sell your gear?
« on: October 11, 2012, 10:42:51 AM »
Yeah, +1 for CL as well. I've had some amazingly good experiences and luck selling stuff on there. Met some great people but have dealt with some incredibly annoying people that will offer you disgustingly low prices on equipment.

I was recently selling my 50mm 1.2 on there and had someone offer me 400 for it...ended up selling it to someone for 1100 tho, so turned out pretty good.

Having a hard time getting rid of my 100mm 2.8 L macro on there tho :/ Been listed for 2 weeks now with 0 interest. Priced it at 800 with a free B+W UV filter, original receipt from BHphoto (was only purchased 45 days ago) and all the contents and accessories :/

Oh well, we'll see how it goes when I bump it.

Is this the only picture you have of the issue? Any pictures of the rest of the body? Just curious what the rest of it looks like.

Third Party Manufacturers / Sony Rx-1

Just curious - how interested are you guys in purchasing this camera as a secondary backup to your DSLR? If not this specific sony rx-1 how about a canon full frame compact camera?

Is there a market for it? What's a price you'd be willing to pay?

While the rx-1 looks and sounds amazing - I don't know that I could stomach spending 3k on a fixed lens camera. The idea behind it is awesome tho. I'm reading lots of rumors of the nex-9 (or whatever it ends up being) that will be Sony's FF mirrorless camera entry.

Now that I might pick up.

Kinda interested what everyone's thoughts were on this.

I don´t want or need a 6D. Not very interesting for me.

Whew! Thanks for responding to this information M.ST - I was at work today and I saw this news come out, the first thing I thought was "man, I wonder if this is something M.ST would be interested in".

Glad you calmed my nerves by answering that burning question that was on my (and I'm sure alot of others) mind.

Lenses / 100mm f2.8 HIS Macro question!
« on: August 27, 2012, 04:37:40 PM »
Just a question for owner's of this lens - I just got mine today from BHphoto and I noticed that the HIS system sounds kinda odd. Maybe I'm just not used to it - as most lenses I've owned haven't had IS/HIS - so it's just a new sound but it just seemed weird.

Turned it off too to make sure it wasn't the af system or anything else and it's only present when HIS is enabled.

Thanks!

EOS Bodies / Re: 5D Mark III Firmware?
« on: August 19, 2012, 03:07:19 PM »
I wasn't stating that it *needed* one , I was just following up on what was reported here :

New 5D Mark III Firmware Before the End of May [CR2]
MAY 9, 2012 CANON 5D MARK III, CANON FIRMWARE FOLLOW ON OUR FORUM

Scheduled
There is apparently going to be new 5D Mark III firmware before the end of May. It will address a few bugs, as well as adding some “features”. No mention of what the features might be. It was mentioned there is a possibility of a bug fix firmware update before the “feature” update, a two part strategy if you will.

There have been no mentions of additional features for video.

EOS Bodies / 5D Mark III Firmware?
« on: August 19, 2012, 10:23:41 AM »
There hasn't been any chatter on this lately - it seems to just have died off. I thought there was word of a HUGE firmware upgrade coming to the Mark III in July?

Has there been any other official / non official talk of when it's coming / what it may contain?

Thanks!
