Not sure what to do at all. I am so confused.

The D800 and 5DII are ment to compete against each other (yes?), but the D800 is superior in almost every way..

I'll probably stick to my 5D2, dreaming about the D800e.

AF faster?..

Speed is not the problem.

5DIII AF to be more reliable, and by that I mean more cross type focus points, and better low light handling.

Correct. Press invites should have been sent out today or yesterday, but still nothing..

And I wonder where Michael Cruz went off to? He said that he was going to post more stuff, but now hes gone.

It doesn't look like today. I know for sure a new Rebel is coming, I didn't think they'd announce it on the same day as a 5D3.

Everyone went silent after the pics leaked yesterday, so no one is answering my emails.

I dont think it is friday either.

Where are the press invitations?

I dont care about high MP, but I do hope the 5D3 can match the D800 in other areas such as pro AF and good weather sealing. I would also love to be able to buy special edition without AA-filter, since I don't give a crap about moire patterns in video mode.

But I guess we can only dream of these features.. Canon has always seen 5D-users as non-professionals, and clearly we do not deserve things like pro AF, nor a tightly sealed camera. 

If we want such things, then we must dish out $7k for an ultra heavy elephant sized 1D X.

most of you are extolling the OHHH got to have it and these features are worth it.. THERE IS A FULL ON RECESSION On out there..

I am looking for my first and probably last DSLR.. and Ive chosen Canon..CORRECTION I did choose Canon..

My decision was based on I work In Media live Broadcasting and have gone from vision engineer to trainee Video cameraman in 2 Years.. and Ive decided to learn the job properly and to do that I feel I need to start with STILLS  and perfect that alongside Video work..Sorry if am boring you all but am old fashioned and if I do something I do it right..

 Therefore I was looking at the 7D and at a stretch a 5D mk II.. reasons were get something good and develop with it..not swap and change.. then the 5D Mk III has appeared on the horizon..

BUT
The high price thats been banded is Not justifyable.. take a step back and look.. Canon release a slightly improved camera at greatly inflated prices, sell a shed load to the must have new brigade or the canon pros get em at greatly discounted prices for the product to be seen out on the street then when its sales figures start to drop the price falls..ready for the next model.. and to be honest most on here are actually helping Canon Improve there sales by justifying the price.. Listen to YOURSELVES !!

START realising and take a stance.. SAY NO (IEI)  TO Canon s Pricing structure and Demand a reasonable price to new product Pricing for Loyalty..to the Canon brand.. its you who can do this..

I have managed to get £1500-£2000 together towards  a decent Camera  BUT I WILL NOT give that money away ..SO am now going to Look at some NIKON (spit) hardware as well

SO CANON THIS MIGHT BE ONE SALE YOU HAVE LOST..

The guy who posted the leaked pictures of 5D3, what happend to him?

He said that he would return shortly with more info, but hes been quiet for many houors now. Maybe Canon told him to shut up?

I have to say I'm a little disappointed. Canon still don't have a built-in eyepiece cover for the 5D line like the Nikon D700 - making you use that S___ty little rubber eyepiece cover that might be attached to your neck strap, if you use a neck strap.

ummm... are you serious?  As a professional, I cant say i've ever in the last decade thought in the back of my mind... I wish my camera had an eyepiece cover... Never... Not once...  I think it could be a nuisance more than anything else... when I want my camera ready to shoot, it better be ready to shoot... If any dust gets in the peice, I'll take a qtip and clean it... done.

The eyepiece cover is to be used shooting on a tripod. It prevents light leakage through the viewfinder.

This is a huge issue for landscapers when shooting panoramas or long exposures.

@MichaelCruz  I lived in the Middle East for years. Call me crazy, but I think I'd recognize that rubble and sky anywhere. Do you know if these pics were taken in the Persian Gulf region?  Funny, everybody focused on the camera, but my mind kept saying "that looks like Bahrain or Qatar or UAE (Couch pattern is also very ME). I hope that doesn't give someone away, but it is interesting if they are testing there. Or maybe a rich Sheik already has one and that's where the pics came from?!

Have you personally tested the 5D3? If so, then what do you think of the ISO-noise and dynamic range?

I'm hoping for something to rival the D800, which the 5D3 obviously won't do.

The D800 has 36MP, full weather sealing, pro AF, non AA-filter version e.t.c...

Is there any official info on how much MP each lens can handle?

I'd like to know how much MP the 135L, 35L and 70-200L II can take, without the IQ going downhill.
