EOS Bodies / Re: could the new EF-M mount support FF sensors too?
« on: July 24, 2012, 07:00:41 AM »
I'd agree.  It would have to be a very high MP sensor or medium format.  For a serious photographer looking at investing a lot of money into a system, why else would you give up the speed and autofocus advantages of a DSLR?  Outstanding image quality is the only answer I keep coming back to.
True.

Also, speed + AF is not important to everyone.

I'd be more than happy with only 2 FPS and turtle slow AF, as long as the camera can deliver in the IQ department. (Resolution, great dynamic range, e.t.c). And i'd prefer if it is a mirrorless body! :D

^ I guess you are right. Now that both Nikon and Canon screwed up their mirrorless debutes, I too think that Sony will be the first to go head to head with Leica. If they can pull it off..

Anyway, whoever makes the next sub-$4000 FF-mirrorless camera, gets my money.

I'm with you.

This is downright depressing. I already knew that Canons first mirrorless would be non FF (in the growing sea of non FF mirrorless), but I still had high hopes for a future model with FF - something to rival the Leica M9 and the upcoming M10.

But no, instead Canon goes all out to please the soccer moms and casual hikers.

Yet another boring step by Canon.

If you look at the position of the contact pins, the new M lens mount will not be able to support a FF sensor.
Well thats it then. All hope is lost.

If what you say is true, Canon F**ked up big time. They closed the door on all who wants an affordable full frame mirrorless. Well, at least more affordable than the Leica M9.

That moment when you are trying to shoot the sunset, and a sudden gust of wind brings down hundreds of cherry blossom petals, blocking your view.  :D

I can I ask you what processing you do on these phenominal photographs?
Thanks. :) Well nothing specific really. I just tweak my stuff in Lightroom and Photoshop until they look good. I don't really know what to say.. If you want my look, you can try to play around with cross processing a bit.

EOS Bodies / Re: Mark III price dropping
« on: July 20, 2012, 04:09:36 AM »
Not for long, I think it will be around $3000. Do you think that is a fair price for a 5D III?
A fair price for the 5D3 is around $2800.

I would gladly pay $3500 or more, if the 5D3 offered a bump in IQ, resolution and DR.

You know.. like the D800 does..  :-X

Lenses / Re: New Canon 50mm Coming? [CR1]
« on: July 17, 2012, 04:05:46 PM »
All of Canons 50mm lenses lack something, maybe except for the 1.2L (which is in turn quite expensive).
Funny you. How about focus consistency (and a fix for the focus shift problem)?

The 50L also lack sharpness when shot wide open, at least if you compare it to the wide open sharpness of other L primes.

Never seen the famous focus shift and is sharp at 1.2.
Sorry to break your illusion, but all 50L's are suffering from focus shift, even yours.. And no, it is far from sharp enough at f/1.2.

35L, 85L and 135L kills it in terms of wide open sharpness.

To all complaining about no new sensor... do you really expect canon to put a BETTER sensor and an IMPROVED sensor in a camera BELOW it's beloved 5d3?  Really?
Well, Canon still don't have a sensor that can compete with Nikon's D800 sensor. Their beloved 5D3 (a.k.a 5D2.5) certainly failed at that.

So yeah, they should make and launch a better sensor as soon as posible.

Yaaawn!

Still waiting for a FF camera from Canon, that offers a real IQ upgrade over the 5D2.

You know.. Like Nikon's D800 does.

EOS Bodies / Re: Mirrorless Update - APS-C? [CR2]
« on: July 12, 2012, 02:02:10 PM »
APS-C mirrorless from Canon is good news!

Because then there is still a chance for a full frame version.

I will be waiting.
It will be a very LONG wait.  I doubt that Canon will do a FF mirrorless system (Body and lenses) within 10 years.
Not really. I think Canon will go for full frame mirrorless sooner than later. If not, then Nikon or Sony will beat them to it. :)

The demand is definitely out there. I saw a rather big poll at Fred Miranda not long ago, where they asked what people wanted in a mirrorless camera. "Full frame" dominated the poll completely.

And besides, Leica is already standing at the mirrorless full frame hill, taunting the others. We'll see who goes first.
