APS-C mirrorless from Canon is good news!

Because then there is still a chance for a full frame version.

I will be waiting.

I like the 2nd pix...awesome
Thank you. :)

Ok what / where is that?  It is cool.

Those are giant solar trees. They are a part of the $1 billion dollar project "Gardens At The Bay" in Singapore.

They are quite massive. See the guy standing on the suspension bridge between them? :)

At night they give atmospheric lighting in the garden. During the day they harvest solar energy and create artificial rain for the flowers and plants in the garden.

Something close to the fuji system would be awesome.
C'mon Canon. Still hoping for aps-c.
APS-C is the minimum, but something like the Leica M9 would be amazing!

C'mon Canon. Give us a full frame mirrorless or go home.

So they will make an overpriced V2 and then have plans for a IS version. Why didn't they just make the V2 have IS?
It is quite simple really. Canon will first launch the overpriced 24-70L II, and then they will launch the 24-70L II IS at an ever higher price! (Let's call it "over overpriced").

The pricetag of the IS version will then make the non IS version look like a bargain!

This strategy might seem kinda strange, but do not worry - Canonites will bend over and take it deep. Both versions will sell like hotcakes, regardless of overpricing.  Just look at the 5D3 sales!

These are happy days for Canon.

Lame, don't need IS on a 50mm prime.
Your comment is even lamer.

There is no such thing as "no need for IS". ALL lenses and all FL's can benefit from IS.

With Google gearing up for a pair of wearable glasses, and the Television market embracing {O}LED screens at more affordable prices, it will be inevitable.
Wearable glasses? Where can I preorder a pair of these?

Site Information / Re: Web site hacked?

How boring.

I thought Canon hacked the site because CR guy was going to leak some sweet info on the 5D X / 3D, with 40 mepapixles and 16 EV of dynamic range.  ;D

Isn't the mirrorless "ILC" category basically an evolution of the Point-and-shoot category? Why are so many people throwing around the "full frame" term in the same sentence, and making statements like, "FF or bust for me!"
Stop. See Leica M9 / upcoming M10.

A highly desirable camera at a very undesirable price. The camera is a little bit bigger than other mirrorless cameras, but still smaller and lighter than a DSLR, and the lenses are fairly small too.

If Canon can make a camera like this with an "affordable" pricetag (around 3.5K instead of Leicas 7K), it will be a huge success! Especially among people who wants to go mirrorless without sacrificing image quality, thin DOF capabilities and high ISO performance.

Allright fellow canonites! Prepare for some more disappointment.  ;D
The disappointment will definitely reach new heights with this camera, since so many are hoping for full frame or at least APS-C.

I'm hoping for full frame too, but I'm fully expecting a G1X-type sensor or some other crappy bs. Canon is not the innovative and exciting company they used to be.  :P

Op (Alexandros), are you kidding me?

No, you are not the only one. I guess you haven't been following the dynamic range debate lately? ;)

Canon is known for banding (pattern noise) and now also underwhelming dynamic range. The 5D line has always had banding, and it seems that Canon doesn't know how to fix it, nor how to increase low ISO DR (at least not during the last 5 years).

Nikon on the other hand, are leaping forward with the sensor in their D800. Well, they are getting their sensors from Sony, but that doesn't really matter.

Canon needs to step up.
