EOS Bodies / Re: 5D Mark III - Repair Procedure
« on: April 26, 2012, 10:24:57 AM »
I emailed Canon regarding the repair procedure of the affected 5D Mark III's.

This is what they replied:

"... But even for the unfixed cameras there will be a free of charge service offered at our service station to replace the light shield from 10th of may."

"According to the information I have it is a light shield between LCD-Illumination and Exposure sensor located at the prism unit."

Thanks.. I was wondering about this since their free service announcement...

Nice job!
That last one looks a little bit backlit, in the same situation my 7D would have blown out the background or just made the bird a mush of black. Did you use any +/- EV Comp while shooting, or recover details in PP? (or is the 5D3 metering just that good?)

Thanks..
I used Aperture Priority Mode, spot metering with +1/3 EV Comp and some regular PP.

If you're curious, I attached here a screen capture from DPP with only default settings.

EOS Bodies / Re: 5D Mark III NOT Getting Recalled?
« on: April 21, 2012, 02:51:48 AM »
To tell you the truth, my images have never looked better with the cap on, so no complaints here!

My "Lens-Cap-On" photos looks fantastic as well.  Dunno what all the fuss is about...

I'm on a tight budget.  :( So, my question is, has anybody tried any 3rd party lens cap before? How's the color and contrast? Any recommendation?

I got mine few weeks ago simply by off the shelf purchase.
I can't stand the agony of waiting for the the delivery to arrive.  ;D

5d mark iii light leak

light leak with normal operation in sunlight

That would explain my consistent under exposures in direct sunlight!

Anybody ever tried taking a normal in sunlight shot and another one while covering the LCD to verify this under-exposure issue?

Though the D800 isn't immune from an early hiccup either. Forget what it was/is. Not that I'm considering a D800 or D4.

I heard D800 have an issue with green/yellow tint with its rear LCD screen

I only use Photoshop, and even batching that many is annoying because I have to stay at the computer and hit enter every time it opens / saves a new file.

I would open the folder containing RAW files using Adobe Bridge. Select all RAW files and open with ACR. Then inside ACR, select all, click save image and save inside the same folder (or where ever you want).

After that you can just close the ACR and it will convert your RAWs one by one. There is no need to keep pressing enter.

Software & Accessories / Re: Automatic Microfocus adjustment software

I heard that the software allows you to register up to 5 bodies. Is that true?
For those who owns both Canon and Nikon system, do they have to buy a separate license for each system?

Nope... Not an in-camera HDR. It's a 7 exposure AEB, Photomatix 4 & PS CS6 Beta

4 shots out of 12? That is not very assuring.... I hope that's not the best it can do...

I'm sure, with more training and experience, the hit rate will increase...
