I have two pair of  YN-622C's (I have 3 580 EX's).  I'm very sure you can't have a device acting as both a receiver and a sender at the same time, which is what it sounds like you're asking.

The first  YN-622C on camera is the master, it talks to your 580 EX which is a receiver.  This 580 EX can not be (at the same time) also be a master (sender) to control your 430 EX.

The only thing you could do what would come close is if you can set your 430 EX to fire when it sees the 580 EX fire using an $8 item like this: http://www.amazon.com/Seagull-SC-2-Flash-Adapter-Socket/dp/B00281Y6FO

I agree with unfocused, get another set (they come in pairs is my experience) and you'll be fine and be better off in the long run.

I have an astro modified 40D that I also used for everyday photos until I picked up a 60D.  My plan for some time has been to get a 6D or 5D3, sell the 40D and get the 60D modified.  That was the plan, anyway.  What's actually happened is that I've picked up some lighting gear and am looking at a robust ballhead and lenses instead of another body.  The 40D still takes incredible astro shots and the 60D does everything else well.  No sense selling what ain't broke and still works for what I do.  Heck, I still have my old G2, maybe I'll get it modified for IR.  Still like to get that 6D or 5D3, though.

How are you using the 40D to take astro shots?  Was it modified?

EOS Bodies - For Video / Re: ND filters for video? Suggestions?

The variable ND filters can produce an X as you approach the max. darkness when using them for photos.

Here's a great review that should help:

I've got the 24-70 v.1 and I gotta say the 24-105 F4 is just as sharp or more so.  The extra 2 stops are not very often missed and the IS is AWESOME for video shooting.  If you're into landscape (as am I) we don't often shoot at 2.8.....

$0.02

EDIT:  You don't have the 16-35 F2.8?  This is the lens you want!!

5D MK III Sample Images / Re: Big Sur and San Fran 5D3 Long Exposure

It should be evident, that my edit is the superior picture.  If nothing else,....

WOW!
1st - We're in a Gallery -> Sample Images forum.  At no point did anyone ask for your $0.02.
2nd - One does not simply come in, tear apart another's copyrighted image w/o asking, re-post a badly photoshopped low rez version and stand on a box proclaiming to the entire forum ones clear superiority in every way.  How embarrassing this must be for you, had you been born with any shame.

At lease that's how we roll where I'm from.
Maybe I'm just too Canadian.

Great shot!  Perfect focus!

How do you find the bokeh on the FF vs crop sensor?

If you're shooting hand held at all... you want IS.

Oh my... This makes me feel even more bad about early adopters.

I have never heard of the selling company AJ Richies.  Anyone have any experience with them?

Tried to get one, Mr. AJ called (blocked number) and told me the menus are not in English, the build quality is less and I should buy the USA version (with warranty).  After looking at some reviews and the thought of a non-returnable 2nd rate/badly refurb'ed Mk3 I told Mr. AJ to cancel my order.

If anyone gets one, I'd love to know how it worked out.

Thanks, that makes a lot of sense.  In the portrait photography world you usually can't get tight enough.  Some how the rules of video appear different.  I also notice it's common to cut people's foreheads off in close ups.

I can imagine panning at 60mm or greater would require really steady hands and slow movements.  Panning at 100mm+ would give the audience motion sickness.  You'd have to spin 90 deg using a a 14mm to even change the scene.

Is the fact we're mostly using hand held DSLRs a factor in wide lens popularity.  Are large commercial cameras (shoulder mounts) as wide?
