an you please tell me what distance did you set your camera when doing AFMA with your 70-200?

Thanks.

Mencho

Hi Mencho,
for the plain lens, I used the recommended 20-50x focal length rule. For 70mm I used 4.2m (60x), for 200mm I used 6.8m (34x) - that's all the room I had in my backyard.

When I attached the 1.4x, I did the AFMA at about 9.3m - 33x (I had to put the target at the end of the yard, and the camera in the house, shooting through the open door.

HTH

I am trying to honor the 50x focal lenght with all my lenses... Besides I have doubts with focal lenghts larger than 200mm.

For a 300mm ... microadjusting at 15mm seems to be a lot.

miah,

When you are validating the target, make sure you get the green "check" at both normal view and zoom setting.

Why is that?

Let me tell you I am adjusting my lens 50x focal length and normally I can't get the green check when making zoom for example with a 135mm or 200mm lens.

Besides I am doing AFMA, I am still having some doubts.

1.- Distance to target: All bibliography tells you must set the target 50x when focal lenght is less than 200mm and set 25x for larger focal.

So for example... for a 200mm lens I should set the target to 10meters... and for a 300mm to 7.50 meters?
To be honest, 15meters seems to be a lot for a 300mm lens.

What are your experiences with that?

2.- Trying to AFMA a zoom lens for example a 24-70 with a 7D... Do you adjust for the larger focal?  You set an average between the AFMA number for 24mm and the number for the 70mm.

Any comments will be very useful to me... I have to AFMA a lot of lens with my 7D and my 5D III

70-200 f/2.8L IS II : AFMA @ 70 = 0, AFMA @ 200 = 2
70-200 f/2.8L IS II + 1.4x III 98 (70 * 1.4)  = -1. AFMA @ 280 (200 * 1.4) = 4

I had forgotten the need to perform AFMA on the lens/TC combination - when shooting a cricket match recently, I found that there was front-focus when using the 1.4x III that wasn't there using the bare 200 lens.

Cheers

Can you please tell me what distance did you set your camera when doing AFMA with your 70-200?

Thanks.

Mencho

Ok... but anyone knows how many dead pixels should a sensor have to be accepted for a camera exchange?

Any official link?

EOS Bodies - For Stills / Dead Pixels on Sensor and LCD - Canon Warranty?
« on: November 11, 2012, 01:50:40 PM »
I know dead pixels could be a pain in the a__... But i never got this very clear and explained.

I am looking for an official Canon link where they clearly explain:

* How many dead pixels should have a Sensor or the LCD to be accepted for sensor/camera replacement?

By the way... I know a dead pixel could be mapped when it appears just on a photo, but what happens when it appears in video? Can Canon service remap it?

Anyone knows if the remaping software is available anywhere?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Well, I've got an unofficial info from the seller that they will probably start shipping the grips on Thursday or Friday, a few days before what they've said on their listing.

Good to know this company Studio Lighting Pro fulfill its promise.

Moreover, all of us who trust on them and pre-ordered early payed USD90 for the grip including the shipping charges. Now you will have to pay USD 98 if you want one, for what I know the manufactured upgraded the MRP.  I can't wait to get mine  :D

So hurry up if you still want yours  ;) ;) ;)

What Risk? Because it's chinese you think the product is dangerous?  :o :o

Batteries and grip on my 7D, 5D II and 5D III are chinese.
LCD Protector is also Chinese.

In my opinion a grip is just that... a Grip. And if I found a reliable chinese option, they will have my 2 cents.

Today I received a review  from the Ebay seller where I pre-ordered my grip for USD90 including shipping

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=140755377672

The full review can be read at https://www.facebook.com/StudioLightingPro.EN

Some paragraphs I found interesting:

Quote
Hard to identify whether the grip is made of ABS Plastic or Magnesium Alloy.
The finish is identical to the Camera's finish and it feels fantastic in my "large" hands.

The wheel used to screw the grip into the camera bottom feels solid and securely screw in.It fits on the camera easily and looks like it belongs. It also makes the 5D III look and feel much more substantial.

All the buttons feel great, pretty similar to the camera body. Also the multi-controller button included on the grip works fine too, but to honest it's a little bit more sensitive to the touch than the camera one. You must get used to it.

They also uploaded some photos:
