Canon General / Re: CPN Interviews the Men Behind the EOS-1 Series SLRs

I like "The Scream" drawing   :)

Another thing I do not like is the flat keys that have no feel along the edges.  The importance of a good keyboard should not be overlooked.

IMHO, the keyboard is the least important aspect of a laptop.  This is easily solved by plugging in a USB keyboard of your choice.

While having a laptop is choosing which compromises you can live with, carrying a 2nd keyboard defeats the purpose of a laptop.  You bought the wrong laptop.

I like how the eyelashes aren't "melted"

btw explains 80% of the price drop of the 5D3 but seems to go unnoticed by 99% of CR

Not unnoticed and in your opinion.  If this were true. the 5D3 MSRP whould have risen **significantly** in either June or late September.

In mine,  the market place is having more of an impact.

Im guessing there is still no way to have this shipped from B&H to Canada?

call them, see what happens.  For cross-border shopping don't use UPS ground - the fees are unnecessarily high.

Still too much vitriol about a camera that none of you have tried, or even read a review.

Where will you all be if the hands-on reviews come in praising how well it focuses? Too busy poisoning some other thread or product I suppose.

BTW it IS a cross-type AF sensor with f2.8 lenses.

Yes.   I'm out shopping for arsenic and hemlock, be back soon.

it's almost a 5DIIn

I'm not sure the Adorama Ebay offer is legitimate

[ ... ]

it is as legitimate as it can get other than a hand deliver by Haruo Murase with personal instruction by Masami Kawasaki.

at 562 units sold, Adorama has sold about 1.54 MILLION dollars of cameras.

Third Party Manufacturers / Re: Nikon D600 $2700 MSRP??
« on: September 13, 2012, 04:55:21 PM »
my take on this ---

the d600 with those specs and build is no real threat to canon at $2200.  If anything, its a bad move on nikons part because the price gap between it and the d800 is too low.  [...]

I think its a shot across the  bow of the 5D III, at a introductory price of US$2100 from 3 US different retailers.

is the 5D III worth the approximate $800 difference? To me  - no.

Can a 6D be "Canonized" (i.e. crippled enough) to not threaten the 5DIII and complete with the D600?   I don't know and i'm afraid to know!

I can't wait to find out :)

EOS Bodies / Touch Screens

I would look forward to a touch screen if it also has a well done user interface:

menu navigation,
custom settings - setting, selecting
direct print :)

with a physical lock/unlock toggle button.

And here's the thing. The "old" sensor is still professional grade and delivers.

The "old" sensor is fine if no one else worked on sensor technology in the past 3+ years.
Seeing as they have,  I would like my current vendor of choice to also strive to improve their offerings.

I Really hope its a newer sensor than the 5D II.
