EOS Bodies - For Stills / Re: my new 5D3 battery life

Hijack...compare battery life of the 5D3 to that of an elderly Dw3.

It all kinda boils down to consistency...
it is always possible to take an occasional great image using inferior gear but, it's a lot easier to consistently do it using superior gear.      ;)

I will notice it, but will my clients?)
That, my friend, is a dissappointing statement coming from a professional.  You're saying less than my best is good enough for them.

Filters are rubbish, reversing rings lose electronuc control, extension tubes stretch lenses betond their specification.
Heed Paul's wisdom.  I use a 180 macro and the only time it's off my 1DsIII is when a 300 2.8 is mounted on it.
That lens is excellent for much more than macro work...takes great portraits.      ;)

I would take the backgound as a separate image...maybe with different focal points and photostack them>
then take the image with the boat and then blend everything together.  Regardless, it was nicely done.

It is sad however that there seems to be an abject lack of seriousness concerning an image that I struggled so hard to bring to fruition.
A stake through the heart would be a delicate way to phrase my feelings.     :'(      :)

I have no experience with NR software except for PS CS6 which I'm satisfied with.
I've found that the key is to use various selection methods to "chop up" that image and use different amounts of NR in different parts of the image.

I have little experience with any printing except for one canvas done through Cosco, was more than satisified.
But now I have some images that I want done on metal or acrylic...anyone have positive or negative experiences with either?

I'm probably gonna pick one up to go with my 1Ds3...provided noise, et al. is up to par.

Software & Accessories / Re: PP for realistic look - is DPP the best?
« on: April 17, 2013, 01:13:34 PM »
You will need more work in LR because it does not apply any PP to your image unless instructed whereas,
DPP applies the same base PP that would be applied in-camera had you chosen to shoot jpeg.

"Realistic" is somewhat an ambiguous term as it relies on one's memory of reality...at best an exercise in futility.

Best practice is to use a "gray card" to adjust colors to that "reality" and maybe adjust exposure somewhat and, oh yeah, maybe sharpen a tad.

EOS Bodies / AF improvements in new bodies

I am technologically impaired and am wondering why my somewhat dated DsMk3 cannot be somehow "updated" to improve on it's AF abilities.
It is up to date on it's firmware upgrades.

Why not shoot a night scene using a "gray card" and let LR choose the colors?
