Lenses / Re: 400mm f2.8L IS II or 600mm f4L IS II?
« on: September 14, 2013, 10:47:15 PM »
I'll keep it simple.

Keep the 400.

You can shoot earlier and later during the day @ f2.8.

Focus means nothing if your shot is too noisy.

EOS Bodies - For Stills / Re: A couple of 1DX questions

The lens, to me, would seem like the biggest factor when comparing the 5DIII to the 1DX in low light "action" (i.e. concerts).

The first time I shot with the 1DX/85 L ii in low light, (Blacklight Burns Band) the keepers were cut in half compared to shooting with the 1DX/16-35 L.
Since then, I've found faster lens such as the 70-200 2.8 II. I would think the 1DX paired with the new 17-40 would be great.

... solid as solid can be for the price.

This thread is a lot like two roaches meeting in the middle of the night, rubbing antlers in a corner, only to move along afterwards.

EOS Bodies - For Stills / Re: 7D - How bad is it? Really?
« on: January 23, 2013, 11:33:29 AM »
The 7D is a pleasure to use. It's a great camera. However, the high iso noise performance is not comparable to full frame camera's.

Images shot at iso 3200 and 6400 (please shoot RAW) need processing to reduce noise (Adobe Camera RAW does a great job) but are very usable unless (1) the images are underexposed or (2) you intend to print the images large.

For me the 7D has always delivered. Even at high iso's.

That is the plain & simple truth of it all.

Somebody is going to crack that 4k video capability in the 1DX.

.... they say laws are meant to be broken & there are many out there chomping at the bit to do it.

The majority has spoken.

I'm a believer!  ;D

The 1Dx does not offer only 1stop of improvement. It offers speed and reliability and these are what a professional photographer needs.

I do not know (or care) in which thread these declarations were made and how many people had written so.
However, your comments imply a kind of satisfaction and "revenge"  and they are rather childish.  Enjoy your 1Dx

1. It's abilities I know well.

2. That's what I thought of all the comments by 5D3 owners at the time. Just rubbin' it back on 'em after the "salt bath" of every 1DX thread in the past. A classic Eddie Murphy & the bread sandwich syndrome ... Eddie Murphy On McDonalds

3. Know that I AM a photographer ... & Thank you.
I will.

Me and my favorite sports portraits ...
