« on: October 15, 2013, 06:55:12 AM »
I am looking into getting a grey market 5D3 off EBay, does anyone know if that would count towards my CPS points?

EOS Bodies - For Stills / ETTR or ETTL?
« on: September 02, 2013, 08:37:47 AM »
I usually Expose to the Right, it's easier to bump down the highlights than to increase shadows.  I am interested in what other people's opinions are on the subject.

Software & Accessories / Lee 105mm CPL
« on: August 30, 2013, 07:44:52 AM »
I recently switched to an all Lee filter system, except for my CPL's (82mm and 77mm).  The problem with the lee system is that it does not attach to a lens if a screw in filter is in place.  Thus this means no combination of CPL and ND/Grad ND.

Anyway, I was wondering if anyone had experience wth the LEE 105.  Is it quality?  Does it polarize well?  etc...

EOS Bodies - For Stills / 60Da
« on: August 28, 2013, 01:30:12 PM »
I am looking at getting a 60Da.  Does anyone have experience with it, or even 20Da?  According to some reviews on Amazon, it can shoot regular photo's in Daylight, is this true?  Thanks

Software & Accessories / Grad Hard Filters
« on: August 23, 2013, 05:59:21 AM »
I recently was forced to switch to Lee Filters (I got the 24-70 II and needed wider filters)...anyway, I accidentally purchased a set of thee grad hard filters (I thought that I was ordering grad soft).  So my question is: How many people use the grad hard and what do they use it for?

Software & Accessories / Bridge CS6
« on: August 21, 2013, 08:15:08 AM »
I have noticed something with Bridge and I wonder if I am missing something.  Sometimes Bridge shows "Subject Distance", other times it does not (see below; same Lens, same Body).  What I find even more strange is that I create a folder for each photoshoot, and either all the photo's in a folder have subject distance or none of them do.  Am I missing something?  Is there a setting that enables show subject distance (I know it's an option, an option that I have checked).  I just can't figure out why some of them show it and some don't.

Software & Accessories / App for Exposure
« on: August 19, 2013, 05:54:48 AM »
I just got the Lee Big Stopper and I am wondering if there is an iOS app for exposure.  For instance, mostly for calculating time values where Tv exceeds 30 seconds.  Does anyone know of an app?

I love my 1V-HS, lot's of great memories.  I paid full price for it in 2001...back then dropping over two grand on a body very much out of the ordinary.  Well anyway, fast forward to today.  I was re-upping my CPS membership and I noticed the 1V/1V-HS no longer are worth anything (it had been worth a point).  I guess canon really is done support film :(

Anyway Amazon still has stock of new ones...sadly they sell new for about ten times the rices of used on EBay.

Software & Accessories / Question about Lee Filters
« on: May 11, 2013, 01:25:44 PM »
I've recently purchased several Lee filters from advice I have received here, thank you all.  No my question is: Is it safe to store it without the tissue paper that it comes with?  I know the tissue paper should provide for protection against scratches, but it's a total hassle.

Canon General / CPS and borrowing lenses
« on: May 09, 2013, 08:33:15 AM »
I hope someboday can help me, I just joined CPS as a Gold Member and would like to "play with" the TS-E 17mm, if I find it matches my style, I may break the bank for it. In any event, what is the procedure one goes through to request a lens? The CPS website says you can borrow for "a week or two", how long do you typically use a borrowed lens? Do they take your credit card number as security against you damaging/losing the lens?  And, finally, is it OK to borrow a lens that you have no intention of ever purchasing (say the 600 f/4)?

Lenses / GND Filter Recommendation
« on: May 03, 2013, 08:15:59 AM »
I recently went from the 24-70 mk I to the 24-70 mk II.  This means I have to add all new sets of filters (why I chose the 17-40 over the 16-35).  In anyevent, I have always used B&W.  But I can't find any 82mm GND filters (I saw one from Tiffen, but I prefer to buy a better brand).  Any ideas?  Thanks...

Lenses / Aperture and Light
« on: April 25, 2013, 07:48:42 AM »
I just got the new 24-70 to replace my Mark I version of the lens.  Here is my question, given that the new lens has a diameter of 5mm more, does that mean that more light enters the lens?  I presume yes.  So, following that presumption, shooting the same subject in the same lighting at the same aperture and ISO speed, does the 82mm lens need less time to properly expose the subject?  If it does, it follows that the new lens is better in low light, correct?

Unfortunately, I sold the Mark I lens the day before the Mark II arrived in the mail so I was unable to test the theory.
