My 7D. Like so many others, my 5D3 put my 7D on the shelf collecting dust. I guess its time to take the hit and sell it.

...Do you know, can I have the off camera flash in my hand as the master, and then have all the controls on the remote flash. I know that I can set it up to Master Linked Shot, but I can't see a way of achieving it this way.Yes. In fact a viable work around for you might be to get a 33' OCF ETTL cord. This will allow you to have the master flash in your hand while connected to the camera's hot shoe up to 33' away. I use to have one of these prior to switching to the 600EX radio system. They're well made and work great.
What I would like to be able to do, is walk about with my 600EX-RT in hand, and point it at where I would like to pin point a little extra light. Then set the 600EX-RT that is off camera (in my hand) to manual, and choose my power setting. But it seems that when the flashes are linked, I can only set the power level by adjusting it on flash in the hotshot. However, I would like to be across the room, with flash in hand.
Any news anyone? I'm still locked out, old password, new password. It is a week now but still no reply from stuff for 2 email...No change on my end either, haven't had time to contact them yet.
I strongly recommend that you do not purchase 5 lenses when getting started in photography. Even if you are already knowledgeable (say moving from Nikon) I still highly recommend that you stick with two lenses and hold the rest of your budget for later....I think that is excellent advice.
But, the main reason I use an external reader is because the card needs to come out of the camera - it serves as a backup until the images on it are copied to multiple external drives in two separate physical locations.Yesterday I commented on a two year old post stating I've given up on the card reader method and just sticking to USB cable transfer primarily to minimize CF card inserts/removals. http://www.canonrumors.com/forum/index.php?topic=2210.msg352014#msg352014
I consider the USB connector risky: an errant tug on the cable (e.g. dog or toddler) could damage the connector, or even yank the camera off a table and onto the floor. I try to avoid connecting any cables to the camera unless it's firmly attached to a tripod..Yip, I've done this a few times.
Yes this is two years old.... But here's a comment. The USB cable has pins too and the on-camera assembly is not as mechanically robust IMHO compared to the CF card socket which has a very nice guided insertion. I suspect the latter will sustain a greater number of insertions before failure. That said I pulled 70k ish frames out of my 40d using only the cable without any issues.
</begin rant> For you others: Complaining about a 7% sales tax (7.75% according to some)? Really? No wonder the US government is broke when everyone's going out of their way to avoid them. That's why the Greek national economy crashed, no one paid taxes. You forgot the sarcasm tag. Surely no one believes its because of a lack of sales taxes collected.
.... </end rant>
I believe it is because they have a presence in my state. What I do miss is same day delivery. When I ordered my 7D, it cost about $10.00 for same day delivery. I ordered it in the morning and had it by 6:00 PM.I would love amazon even more if it didn't collect sales tax.
Yip, Amazon has fantastic customer service and they've taken thousands of my dollars over the years but that pretty much came to a halt when the started applying sales tax.
I have just, over the last three days, purchased fifteen odd items from Amazon in about four different orders, none of them have a singe cent of sales tax added and I do not live in a sales tax free state.
I would love amazon even more if it didn't collect sales tax.
