Do you think a DEMB Classic Flip-It ( http://www.dembflashproducts.com/flipit/ ) and basic diffuser  ( http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/407175-REG/Sto_Fen_OM_EW_OM_EW_Omni_Bounce_for_Canon.html ) can get most of it done?
     Thanks.

That is very cool.  I have 3 more "flash" tutorial/workshops in the cue, but I think I'm more in line with what you do.

Photography Technique / On-Camera Flash Technique/Gear?
« on: April 14, 2014, 10:42:28 AM »
Just did my fourth professional shoot (a Bat-Mitzvah) and the results were the best I've yet done.  Haven't yet ventured into off-camera flash, but used a variety of "bounce" tools (simple diffuser, small soft-box and on-flash bouncer).  My camera's a 70D and flash is the 430EX II.
Are there any other recommended tools/techniques like brackets, etc.?  Off-camera seems like it might be tough while remaining mobile.  Maybe I'm wrong, but I think I might like to stick with on-camera.
     Thanks for any discussion.

I've just done one so far, but put together a GREAT inexpensive starter set-up that I can share if you like.  There's also another online thing that's very helpful that I'll find in a minute.

headed to Alaska from Seattle:

This is quite nice.  If you had only cloned out the cranes, and then done a wall-sized print, you could have sold it for like a billion dollars...at least if you had spent 40 years building your brand beforehand, etc. etc....:P  (I'm referring to another thread about the "$4 million photograph"...just joking around, no offense...it's just kind of amusing...an ethereal mountain peak off in the distance, nestled over the hustle and bustle!!)

Ahh very cool, I just now saw the airplane in the upper right.  Doesn't appear to be a float plane, but the underside of the wings seems to have stripes.

Very fun shot you have there...
Thanks a lot.  Much appreciated.  If you like, my other "winning" shots from that trip are at www.flickr.com/photos/corysteiner/
I'm really like an accomplished novice and I was almost in tears while taking some of the shots.  It was as if a higher being was pressing my shutter button.  I've since had 3 paid shoots with my fourth scheduled (although one ended up not paying).

Pricewatch Deals / Re: Deal: Canon EOS 6D Body $1499

Speaking of this, what would you say about complementing my 70D/35mm lens with an UWA or replacing the 70D with a 6D to get a wider (likely wide enough in most cases) view with the same 35mm lens?
Also, is 24mm usually enough in most cases for indoor/real-estate/architecture photography?
And, while we're at it, has anyone missed the "crop" factor when moving on to full-frame?
I never do any video or continuous shooting; if that matters.
Thanks.

Beautiful sky colors. Well done Cory.
Thanks.  I looked out the window at 6AM, screamed and grabbed my camera.  Ran out in 10 degrees in bare feet.  It came and went quickly.

If it helps with the discussion - tried a Sigma 18-35 yesterday at a workshop on my 70D and was thoroughly blown away.  So thoroughly that I ordered one today.
