this guys a troll lol stopped taking photos what a dickhead lol he has the 70-200 2.8 mk2 so what body did he use it on?he is full of S___e

Yeah, thx...I see that u cannot accept a different point of view. Probably You prefer when people say about their love to Canon etc. I just tried to be honest and present my point of view. I have experienced both systems and I am frustrated using one of them. I know each system, their raws, ups and downs. For me it was hard to admit to myself that I made a bad decision switching from old system.  it is even harder, due to the fact that switching back will be even more expensive. it's nothing to do with trolling and i really don't understand you.  I also know a lot of people who are very happy with 5d2, however most of them did not use Nikon before. Most studio photographers use 5d2 for studio work, due to the fact that it's affordable with it's 21 mpix. Me too, but I never liked it. Now the game changes. Canon made a lot of financial based decisons.

You must not have been shooting for very long.  Remember that the 5D original was the only full frame on the market for a long time?  People were shooting with D200s and D2xs at that time.  Remember than until this past year Nikon didn't even have a 35mm 1.4 prime?  And a couple years ago they didn't have a 24mm 1.4 prime?  Remember that Nikon still doesn't have 1.2 primes at all?

Once the D700 came out, the market shifted decidedly toward Nikon.  I'll be the first to admit it, from 2008 until now, Nikon has had better bodies than Canon period.  But the 5D3 has evened things out.  It's going to shift back and forth, but don't give me bull about Nikon just being plain old more customer oriented.  That has a really short memory and these companies are much older than that.

I know exactly what you writing about, however at present Nikon has it's 35 and 24 there's unfortunately no 135. I shoot since Canon G3, Nikon D70 than, Nikon D300 and finally C 5d2. You writing about the past, and I have to admit then the past looked different, but competition never sleeps, and the result can bee seen now. The only thing than Nikon missed a while ago was a MP at affordable price. Tell me who will chose a 5d3 if one has no canon lens? Do you really need ISO beyond 6400? Let's see what reviews and tests bring, but imho D800 is better in almost every aspect. It would be really strange if someone makes a decison based only on producer's past achievements. Take a look at present and the future.

I dont where you are getting your information from but I would start reading/listening elsewhere.

Only series 1 focus properly? Oh dear me you have been lead up the garden path - I suppose you are going to tell us next that the 7D is a lousy camera for sports and the 5DII is useless at weddings.

If that is how you feel I suggest you go back to Nikon before you smell the coffee

My information is 100% true, and I  got it from my own experience as well as other resources, but mostly based on my exp as said earlier. Hey,I  worked with both system and I think that you have only worked with 5d2. The AF there is a mistake, of course it you used almost any Nikon before. Please take even a D300 and go for sports, weddings etc..check it...a new world order will be presented for you (of course i don't compare image quality)

I even stopped taking photos due to 5d2, which i really don't like.

The 5D2 is such a bad camera it made you quit photography?! LOL that's hilarious, and stupid.

I did not. But taking photos with gear that u hate is a problem. I bought new gear and within 6 months 2 lenses and a body was serviced for 5 times. 5d2 was calibrated 3 times for AF, has problems with light mattering (very underexposed images-for sure it was not my fault, trust me) , 50mm couldn't  focus properly (was broken from the begining), 5d2 could not sync @ 1/200-my highest x sync was  1/125. WB in 5d2 was drama, I felt like having a camera which is 10 years old. And that plastic feeling in hand...just did not like the camera. Imagine ur a pro driver and u have a car u hate for many reasons. Would you like to drive? Isn't it all about passion and liking what you do?

"I'm selling my Mark II and buying a Nikon D800 for $2999"

Out of curiosity I was wondering what sort of lens  these 20 respondents had.  You are moving to another ecosystem to save on the Nikon camera body. You will take a haircut on your lenses along with the MKII. And will have to spend more money new Nikon lenses and a new computer. Obviously this decision is not because the MKIII is 500 dollars more expensive. Am I missing somethings here?

24-70 2.8
50 1.4
85 1.8
135 2.0
70-200 2.8 IS II

Yep. I just want to be happy with my system and camera. I just want to be sure that if i am be loyal to one brand it will not disappoint me in future. Nikon never did. I really like their system. Once upon a time  I just needed more mpix and iso 100 when d700 was hot in the market, so I decided to switch to Canon and THIS was mistake for me, a serious one. I even stopped taking photos due to 5d2, which i really don't like. And now, canon made a good (standard) AF system and probably nothing more important, selling camera for 3500$? Joke? Campetition has probably better AF, better build quality, more MP (not soooo important for me but...), far better ergonomics, is more customizable, has great flash system, better and more precise exposure mattering has better in-camera mechanics, can take more photos (200K), so far can register more DR, has much higher "real" x-sync, has no banding and visible noise @iso100, me NEFs are better for PP (maybe i am just used to nefs but i dont think this is the reason), is cheaper, more reliable. Hmm am I missing something? I just find Nikon more customer orientated  and Canon leaded by accountants and financial managers (how to earn money, giving them almost same thing but let push them to pay more and more). Nikon invents, Canon follows. It's strange that u have to pay for 1series to achieve focus properly. I had a perfect and reliable AF in D300. Why I had to wait for years to have 3500$ good AF (probably). I wait for reviews for final decison bur so far I cant convince myself to stay with Canon.

AF point-linked spot metering not comment!

EOS Bodies / Re: 5D Mark III Sample Images
« on: March 02, 2012, 03:34:26 AM »
Hmmm, i am dissapointed a bit. Images are not sharp where they should be, eyes are soft like when AF does not made a precise work, that's the first impression, second is that images are soft overall. I really waited for the camera to see if stayin with canon is good decision, but from what i see does not work for me.

EOS Bodies / Re: If this is the best the D800 can do...

If AF is only thing that will be improved in 5d3 there would be nothing keeping me in Canon. I expect a big step in DR, AF, ISO. I have already decided, that if that would not come, I end my relation with Canon. I was a Nikon user a year and ago, and switched to Canon, expecting next 5d3 will be outstanding, but so far it seems that my old friend Nikon made a camera that meet all my expectations, even a little bit too much (mpix). I am little bit upset about Canon, however we will see if there's a really a new nicely improved 5d3 coming or only an old one with a perfect marketing around and better AF. Hope the first option will be valid, because selling my Canon lens would be a financial loss for me. To be honest, after I had  bought a 5d2 a always waited for 5d3, i did not like the camera, I was being used to AF and other things in Nikon like WB, colors, configuration options, built quality, raw files. 5d2 images was better in terms of quality but i just hated capturing things with 5d2. People who own s Nikon know exactly what I am talking about.  Bought 5d2 it for Canon primes and other lenses. Right now a 5d3 will be a kind of decision maker for me. Stay or go away. I know, i know- i write it many times, but I am really frustrated with Canon and made a bad decision about year ago.

1.the rumors is true (22mpix, only better AF, price tag)
2. and nothing changes in other parameters (nothing about this in rumor)

Think it over for last couple of days. If the rumors is true, and there will be no significant changes in ISO, DR I will switch to Nikon once again, hope it's the last time. I perform advanced and long time post processing of my studio works so Nikon seems better in it's files.

If you've got the funds to jump around year after year to which system has the newer update, you're gonna get pretty tired...

The thing is that i don't have such a funds, and I am tired right now, it;s not my goal to have to most up to date gear. I bought canon gear a year ago, thinking that they launch a new 5d3 soon, with really good specs (good for  me-AF and better dynamic range, better iso 100). Thought that it is the right choice.  I was not satisfied with 5d2, i hated it to be honest. I just preferred to work with my d300 with rather poor lens even I have much better or very good lens from canon. I just hated the camera, as i used to work with nikon, having no problems at all, where camera does not make it difficult to take the picture. I felt like waking up in the past with 5d2. I know, i know- photographer takes pictures, not a camera...and it's not about that.

About Mpix-I personally don't need 36, 21 was ok, around 25 would be perfect these days. But Nikon didn't have such a camera with d700,5d2 price tag. So I choose Canon for studio work. Having now a high mpix camera launched from Nikon, tell me an argument for buyin Canon, is there anything which can push a customer to buy it? OK-let's say-a customer have no camera and gear.

Reading all the things, specs and information for about last few months i really regret changing my gear about a year ago. Now i am almost decided I will switch once more, but i think that would the last one. Hate selling things via internet, especially expensive things like lens. Have no idea what pushed me for leaving Nikon, as far as I remeber it was iso 100 (noisy by the way), 135 2.0, and 35 1.4 and higher mpix. Now the market looks completely different, and i am stuck.

Unbelievable. I took 3 years to put good but probably old AF to 5d2. Now we gonna pay much more for standard product which should be in offer 3 years ago. Nothing special, nothing always. Now guys from Canon will test their marketing and psychology knowledge to make us extremely happy that the company created a camera that can follow market standards with AF.... 22Mp would be great in nowadays market (pretty enough for me) if they improve ISO and dynamic range. Really hope they will do that. AF presented in rumor should be a standard (maybe with less points), even 3 years ago, not a great improvement. Canon made us think that that is outstanding. NO! It is a standard at present.  I own a lot of lenses from Canon but have no camera (sold 5d2 last week). Now I am just waiting what will come. Decision maker, sell and go with Nikon or stay and buy 5d3. Anyway, doesn't it sound strange for you-competition launches a 36Mpix camera  with probably good ISO, nice dynamic range (should not be worse than d700), very, very good and reliable AF, and "our" Canon will just improve AF in new product in order to follow a kind of market standard (AF that just works in many conditions and accurately hits the target). Can't be! Hope that i am wrong. In other words-I am just confused-why should I stay with Canon, despite the fact that i own 5 lenses? I am just trying to answer the question for myself for several months waiting for new 5D and being a little bit frustrated with 5d2 after my long experience with N.D300. Is that really possible that they will miss a customers expectations so much? If they will, what have they been doing for such a long time? Trying to put several components into one body? Seems strange for me.

EOS Bodies / Re: March 2, 2012 The Day for an Announcement?
« on: February 22, 2012, 10:19:28 AM »
To be honest i dont get the idea of canon rumors site. It works like any other photo hobby site, no important rumors at all. We will see a specification at a day of announcement. What is the site for? I can do a rumors every day sayin that a next camera will have this and that. When there was a rumors about d800 it was pretty same as announcement spec but long before official Nikon release.
So according to known rumors we will get almost same camera as 5d2 but with normally working AF system. Am I missing something? Sry, but I am one of small group of Canon owners which don't like the their 5d2. So I am waiting, waiting, waiting to buy something which will not annoy me ( I am little bit used to my old D300).

I dont need many focus points, i would really appreciate even 5 if they all crosstype, and what is more important they all lock precise on target, also in low light. I simply dont need more pixels than 5d2 offers, theres no need for even one pixel if u cant achieve proper and accurate focus. Thats the point for me. I have read a very well prepared review, based on many detailed tests etc, which states the the Af in 1d4 is very good in servo mode, but lacks precion in studio work. I am not a fanboy of any brand but after using 5d2 for a year I am really frustrated about the camera. Before that i used nikon d300. Now, i would probably go for nikon, if I did not invest a lot of money in canon. So, waiting for next step of canon, hope they launch somethin good.

5D3 with 1dmark4 AF-sounds for my like selling my gear definitely and switching to Nikon finally. I wait with my Canon gear for better information. I heard a lot and read a lot about 1d AF, there's no match for even Nikon d700. Hope that's not true. I am really pissed about this AF problems in Canon. If they finally do something better and reliable in sport and studio I will stay, otherwise goodbye. Think a lot about this and that;s my decision maker
