Tried my new camera and new-ish lens for the first time.

Did you take a bite?
A good mood shot, very well executed. Made me smile.
Thank you!

Thanks :)

When she held out the apple and made funny faces, it looked so funny and cute I started laughing. Had to take couple deep breaths until I was able to keep shooting.

or just the bottoms... :)

Intel could use this to market their Sandy Bridge -series.

It'll start at $4199, and in less than 6 months it'll be at $3499.

Trust me.

Why should we trust you?  You've been wrong many times before.

I say $3799.

I'm happy to put $5 bet that my guess ($4199) is closer than your guess ($3799).

Right now a 5D3 lists at $3,100 (and sells at B and H for $2,800) so the new camera will have to sell for a premium over that.
While tpatana's educated estimate seems reasonable, if I were Canon I'd want to sell at least 100,000 of these in the first year (just to break even on development costs) and would set the price under $4k. At $5k - I can't imagine them jumping off the shelves; particularly since magazine and newspapers are firing photographers (Sports Illustrated just fired all their photographers !).

You're right, I'm thinking of sale prices. I bought my 5D3 about 2 years ago, basically for $2450 after I sold the kit lens. So official announcement price at $4499, and later this year it'll be $3799.

Beautiful girl. Very nice portrait. Nicely done.

Thanks. From the local models I shoot with, she's my favorite.

I never had the F4 so difficult to say, but my MarkII is amazing sharpness.

EOS Bodies / Re: POLL: How many mp do you want anyway?
« on: January 31, 2015, 02:19:05 AM »
I selected 36 because I wanted more than my current 5d3 provides.

In all honesty, I really only want a modest amount more.  I just want to be able to routinely print 13x19 at 300dpi without enlarging.  In all honesty, 36 is probably more than I really need.  I'm guessing the 5d4 will be on the money with the slight MP increase.  50 megapixels would be awesome if I wanted to really print big, but I don't currently have a need for quite that many pixels.  I'm sure others do though.

5D4 is not going to be even close to 50MP, I'd be surprised if it goes even above 30.

Reason: 5DS already exists so 5D4 should compete on the other aspects like high-ISO and fps. Both of those get hit if you increase pixel count -> 5D4 will not have high pixel count.

My shooting style:

18MP is enough
I'd love super-clean ISO6400
10+fps desired

Some day I also want one of these, but for now I'll just study how they'll work.

Mostly good experiences. I always google the name, that usually already indicates plenty.

I've traded maybe ~10-15 lenses used, and only one time got bad experience. I bought lens from POTN. The pictures were not perfect, so I asked about the condition. He said nothing on the lenses.

So when the lens arrived, the front element had lot of scratches. I sent him email complaining about that. He was really slow at responding. One time he responded "Sorry for delay, I had to travel to Seattle for XYZ."

Funny enough, I live in Seattle so I responded "Great, I live in Seattle too so I'll bring you the lens and you give my money back". Surprise surprise, no reply for a while until he "returned" home. He paid my money back, I shipped the lens back. So I took loss for the return shipping. Lesson learned, if photographer takes bad photo of the lens, there's reason for that.

In general, I still favor slightly used quite often.

Nice, exactly the cards I have too :)

Even on 5D3, I was hitting ~60-80GB on my sports day, so with double the frame rate at 12fps I'm afraid if even 2x64GB is enough.

And for that amount, I expect I need 2 batteries.

I picked up a 135L the other day... I'll use it for indoor sports... until I can trade up and get something better for that duty.

I'm still looking for mine.
