Actually when i get that I use it to get a portrait done.

-"Nice camera"
- "Yeah it's great.......wanna see the results? I can take your picture and email it to you later!"

90% yes results. Of course it's not candids but it makes the best of an otherwise useless small talk.

And here's the body.

Yes! This is a paper model that you can make it yourself for 38 Yuen ( US$5.00)

Yeah I know. Just saying that considering chinese market, it's a safer bet to think it's a vanity/faulty knock off strap than a tester dumb enough to wear a strap that Canon would be dumb enough to provide him (and already produce)

That dim sum option is actually weirdly attractive...

Software & Accessories / Re: New Macpro teased at Mac Conference
« on: June 12, 2013, 11:16:22 PM »
I've been slowly moving into the Apple camp over the last few years.  So far, it's the iPhone 5 and an iPad Mini. I'm really interested in the Mac book pro for Lightroom on location. They are a bit out of my price range at the moment so I'm thinking about getting a Mac Mini just for LR and converting my catalog. I haven't used an Apple computer since the Apple IIe and need to learn the ropes. I'm more excited for IOS 7  ;D

I'm a long time mac fan but I'll advise against buying a mac mini if you are planning to use it with a DSLR. Even good mac mini are average at best as soon as you have a consequent photo library and do moderate editing (aperture + nik).

On the other hand I don't think mac pro are a necessity if you're not into heavy video editing or 3d rendering. My maxed out iMac 27"mid 2012 model is breezing through all my needs while running other heavy lifting (encoding, 1080 movie running not to get bored, compressing the exports and so forth). A lower model would thus probably be adequat for non gratuitous use.

TLDR: Serious hobbyist to stills only pros = iMac.

Lenses / Re: Sell non L primes to get 24-70LII

We get one topic like this per week. "should i sell my x/y/z to get the new 24-70L" Maybe there should be a sticky "Get it if you can really afford it, it rules". With an Oprah gif saying ëverybody gets a 24-70.

Lenses / Re: Lens pouches - worth buying?
« on: June 11, 2013, 12:36:44 AM »
That

Generally I do not use lens pouches anymore as all my camera bags have adequate protection.

and that

All of my lenses have come with pouches...all the pouches are sitting in a box in a closet.

What you're seeing first is a jpeg preview, then when the RAW loads, it is displayed. RAW files are mean to be processed, hence the lower contrast and saturation.

Because of this.

Because of that.

 8)

This here is the reason.  :o

There's your problem.

1- You need a permit to commercially use public space (much like a cafe for it's terrasse) or you'll be kicked out by cops like the street sellers and their plastic eiffel towers.
2- Parking aint cheap in this neigbourhood so your van will cost or be towed.
3- Copyright protected at night. (light works).

Good luck.

PS: I leave in China and here this practice is very common and tolerated. Discussed with a guy, they still make crappy money, even in very touristic places.

OK good start, keep them coming!

In the OP, I was talking of my last order but here is some I'm always going back to :
The Americans - Robert Frank (of course)
England and Scotland 1960 - Bruce Davidson
Dream Street: W. Eugene Smith's Pittsburgh Project
Henri Cartier-Bresson: The Modern Century

Canon General / The library

I didn't see any discussion on that topic so I'll start it.

I was just getting myself some photography litterature (namely the new Winogrand, collections of Lewis Hines and Andre Kertesz and an exhibition catalogue of O Zhang) and I was rethinking about comments on "photography litteracy".

Actually the more I get social with other photographers, the more I can see the difference in approach between people with "references"and people without. (no judgment there, both approach are valid as creation process ... but maybe less as discussion base ;) )

So please share your "photography readings". Can be famous photog books, can be "how to's", whatever you think helps you shoot better!

Exactly the same as you OP!

like 90% of responders
-24-70 L II
- 70 200 2.8 IS II
- random fast prime of choice (for me it'll be 35 1.4)

Would a 14-24 exists it would make a very probable trio too to cover 14-200.
