The final prices may stablize around $2750 or so in less than six months... rather quick but these sporadic deep cuts are just signs of things to come... and yes it will spike back up to over $3000+ again for a bit, but I think it will decline and stablize around $2750 quickly... has to be expected given the emerging competion.

I would not expect long term price cuts to this level for a long time.  I know others are more pessimistic about the competitiveness of this camera, but it is an excellent, very well rounded machine that excells at many things.  You won't regret the purchase at this price.  Get one if you can.  I got in on the last Adorama deal and wish I had enough cash to get another one this time around.

I find it peculiar that Beach Camera would sell it for less on Ebay where they have to pay a fee to Ebay, than there own website. Its doesn't make sense to me. When it sounds too good to be true, it usually is.

It's not. I got one cheaper than that a month ago. BeachCam is a Canon authorized dealer. Warranty cards included and everything.

No one knows for sure. I don't have a number that I'm looking for it to hit. Just to reiterate, I did say 'months/years'

True. Well I had planned to get this camera by the end of the year. Just wondering whether it would be advisable to go with this now, or wait for the holidays.

Does anyone know if Canon/retailers usually have price drops this big for the holidays?

Others questioned the same thing when Adorama did it via eBay for $2749.00 USD. That's when I got mine and it came new in box, serial numbers matched, no light leak issue and I've been shooting with it for almost a month now and absolutely love it.

I don't know why dealers are doing it via eBay, but as long as its not Gray market and a reputable dealer, I say go for it for those that want to.

That's what my colleague told me this morning.  That's true you may get much better deal in the next month.  What I told him was to save one to two hundred dollars more and missing the camera for Thanksgiving is not worth.  Waiting the best deal was how he missed the 2750 deal last month from Adorama.
