Last Night's Sky 5D mkIII and Bower 14mm f/2.8

I got home late from a movie last night and realized the stars were super crisp and clear between the cloud compared to normal. I had to take a few shots. I took these between 2-2:30AM. Sure doesn't look like 2 am! I like these a lot, I like the third one with that blueish star I presume peaking thru the clouds.

Great work. Somewhat off topic question though... Do you mount your Tokina 11-16 on your 5D3 at all? I have a tokina 11-16 and will be getting a 5D3 very soon and wanted to know if it was worth bringing in my camera bag or just keeping it in the car with my "emergency" crop body. Is the bower significantly sharper? I'm aware the tokina is usable at 14mm on up and I don't mind the vignette too much.

I often prefer my bower 14mm over the tokina but I always keep it in my bag when I'm doing wide shots incase I don't want the curved edges of the bower. It is definitely a nice lens and vignette free at 16mm. The bower 14mm is better then the tokina at 14mm but if the tokina is the only super wide that you have then it is great on the 5D. Def. keep in you bag. Also the bower is not AF and the tokina is, so that is good for event situations when you need AF.

Stupid question, Bower and Samyang 14mm 2.8 are the same thing but under different brand names?

I am on the same boat as Chosenbydestiny. I have never seen any sample shots of Tokina 11-16 on a 5D, let alone on a 5DIII. Would be of great help if you have any real life shots using this setup, I was wondering just how bad the vignette is really. I dont mind the falloff that much as long as its not too crazy.

Bower and Samyang are the same product however I they are different pricing. I think samyang is the actual manufacturer and companies like rokinon and bower are just sub sellers of the same product. I think the warranty and other stuff like that is better through samyang or more reliable but i'm not totally sure.

I will post some tokina and 5D mmiii shots soon. The tokina is rented out this weekend but as soon as it gets back I will post some stuff. the tokina on FF is great 15-16mm with only the normal fall off. but 11-14mm you have blackness on the edges that is only good if you want that "effect". As a normal lens though it is great at 15 and 16mm. Will post shots soon.

Thanks. I think these ones were all at f/5.6 and 45sec 100 ISO. Unfortunately my bower is all manual so it doesn't record the aperture data and I was kinda all over the place with it.

 no problem. yes very very usable. haha. yeah that's what it is for me =-) except I'd call it a dual focal length uwa prime.
