odd canon cps point allocation --

my 70-200 is 2 points, and my mark2 is 5...

The older products are worth fewer points. 
The 85mmL is the odd one - 1point!!

So, what's odd (besides the total of 27 being an odd number, not even, that is)?  The 1DsII is two bodies back now, the 85L MkI is quite old, the 70-200 II is current.

Still, when you consider market price, the old 85L and the Mark II are not a 1-5 value ratio.  I guess they drop the points each year so you will buy new gear.

You get a neck strap, couple end-caps and other fribbles, Canon's Big Book of Lens Porn and (most usefully) significant discounts and turnaround improvements for equipment repairs.  At one level (Gold?  Platinum?) you also become eligible to try a piece of kit before you buy, sort of like a free rental but without the control.
