Early Shot

This is a composite of three photos. One was for the stars and the others were for the trees. I was using a 580EX II for the trees across the pond and got lucky with the large tree, a car coming down the trail lit it just right.. Tokina 16-28 at f2.8 all exposures under 15 seconds.

Nice nice! I appreciate people putting pictures they are proud of up, and having the guts to. It like throwing yourself out there for everyone to pick apart. Good work, hope to see more!

Cool!  Did you run over to the trees to illuminate them during a long exposure?  They seem quite far away from the camera

The trees in the background were illuminated by my 580EX II. 5 seconds at f2.8 ISO 3200, ETTL II mode. I was working the head of the flash at different angles with the built in paper bounce and that angle caught the trees in the background best. I was suprised it actually went out that far, but it did. again it's a composite..background trees, sky and foreground, along with the large tree on the right. One thing that was funny, when my flash went off for the first time a big flock of birds resting in the water fluttered and it scared the heck out of me...I guess I scared them too...
