Canon 100mm F2.8L IS
« on: December 12, 2012, 05:48:08 PM »
Hi, I've had this lens for a while now and its not one I use too often however I noticed the other day that in shots I used it for that it is showing exif data of 105mm and not 100mm when used on a 1Dx. Previously it had been ok and showing at 100mm, I've just checked it on my 7D and it is showing as 100mm. I've not come across exif data being misread before, anyone else seen this with either this lens or any other? Not the end of the world but just a query.

What are using to read your EXIF files? Lightroom? Photoshop?

Mine shows up as 100mm in Aperture, MacOS, etc., with Exiftool, and after upload to Flickr.  Sounds like a bug in LR.

The reason I ask is because in Adobe Lightroom, I use LensTagger, a plugin that can change/add EXIF data of manual lenses, ie. my Samyang 14mm to the correct EXIF info that I set myself. It can also change EXIF of AF lenses should I choose to. I am wondering if this is a software glitch where something is causing Lightroom to show incorrect focal length. Have you updated your Lightroom recently? Also you may want to try opening the same image file in Adobe Photoshop and see if the EXIF reads correctly.

Mine shows up as 100mm in LR3/LR4.0-4.2 with both the 7D and 5DIII, with old and new firmware both. Not saying it isn't a bug in LR4, just that I am not experiencing the same bug.
