If anyone cares, these are not the authentic Canon MkII center-pinch caps.

Fake (from the links above):

Real (from B&H):
EOS 1D X, EOS M, and lots of lenses

You're right.. IMO the fake ones looks really good (design) and has the lens cap cord .. I'll take the fake for sure..
AND depends how much you wanna spend.. 10 bucks for the original or less than 2 bucks for the fake one..

If you notice, they have strings attached ;)

Since I'm using B&W clear filter as a lens protector, there is no lens cap in my bag :o

I bought some of them a few years back and the paint on "Canon" rubbed right off.  Piece of crap.

@$1.45 no one probably though so anyway knowing the Canon prices for pieces of plastic - but didn't stop me from ordering some since I've got the time to wait for the delivery. But concerning the product infringement an absolute shame of course :-p

I'm fairly sure the Canon logo does not substantially add to it's ability to protect the lens.   ;)

Did the cap itself stay in place and do it's job, or it didn't do that either and hence the POC rating?

I just got my first 2 MK II lenscaps (77mm) before this weekend.
What a difference compared to the MK I lenscap. I love it !!!
It is so easy to snap on and off the lenscap while the lenshood is on. And, it doesn't slip out of my fingers anymore..

Still waiting for 2 x 67mm and 72mm....it seems difficult to deliver

A third party lens cap without a logo can easily be had.  However, if the reasons for buying one also include having the Canon logo on it, then it fails miserably.   Ergo, it's a piece of crap.

i got tons of these cheapie caps...  If one gets misplaced, i can replace them without fretting... they are tough... I can pick the camera and lens up by the cap and it doesn't give (for the most part)...  They got a crappy string attached to it, but I cut those off the day they arrive at my door.  Couldn't recommend them strong enough...
Canon 5d III, Canon 24-105L, Canon 17-40L, Canon 70-200 F4L, Canon 100L 2.8, 430EX 2's and a lot of bumps along the road to get to where I am.
