Can you reprogram the rate button on the 5d3?
« on: January 13, 2013, 02:37:37 PM »
I guess this has been asked before but I am unable to find the thread. Can you reprogram the rate button on the 5d3? if yes, how?

While my 5d3 is getting a fair bit of use the rate button is shiny and new as ever!

You can make it do "Protect image" instead.

That's all, AFAIK.
Canon 5D3  ,  70-200mm f/2.8 L IS II ,  24-105mm f/4 L IS  ,  50mm f/1.4  ,  85mm f/1.8 ,  EF 2x III
Olympus OM2-SP , 50mm f/1.2 , 55mm f/1.2 , 50mm f/1.4 Silvernose , 135mm f/2.8 , 28mm f/2.8

Unfortunately  >:(

Even so I have already changed it to Protect as this is (just) a little more useful for my needs.
Let's hope Canon will offer us more choices in future firmware updates (not that I believe it much though)

Thanks fleetie and tron. This sucks though that Canon should not just provide a redundant button but refuse to let us use it for something, well ... useful.
