Canon Center Pinch Lens Caps Now Shipping

Oh god. The 52mm cap is only for EF-M lenses. Now my 50/1.8 will have to go without... Canon! WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!?

I've used these caps for at least 5 years, they are hardly new.  I think I bought them for $1.99 on ebay, certainly not $15+

Fyi: I recently ordered 3 different type/sizes of cheap rip-offs of the new Canon caps (complete with Canon print :-)) from China/HK, and ...

* In one type, the clip system isn't very smooth so it doesn't really snap but I have to push the clips outwards (though I might find some way to grease them :-p)
* In another type the Canon print only consists of type stickers that instantly fell off :->

Still, if you have time enough to wait for the delivery it's worth trying a few since they are so cheap, and it's much easier using these with the lens hood on than the older Canon system with the clips on the outside.

I forked out the change and bought 2 Canon Lens Cap E-77 II from Amazon this week. Just got them, and well, I think they are worth every penny. The center pinch is easy to grab (even with a lens hood on) but the surprising thing that I love is the super tight hold they have on the camera. Feels really solid and impossible to knock off unlike the originals which just require a small bump.

Has anybody tested these new caps with a 5D mkIII to see if there is still the light leak. I think Canon did a dirty on us and didn't fix the light leak in camera but just produced a "light leak proof" lens cap.

I have heard that these new caps will increase the FPS...my mk3 would have be able to go 15 FPS with these caps on....sweet!!!!...Oh ad theres no banding whatsover with them either!

Are these thicker and heavier than the old caps? If so I won't bother for most of my lens except for perhaps ones that are a bit of a pain with the hood on...

Yes this is where the new caps shine, reaching in down into the hood tho unlatch the old caps required dexterity. These new centre pinch caps are a snap! But if you're updating current caps, skip the remarkably priced genuine Canon, and go directly to eBay.
