Should I buy the 5D mark III ?

Hello Everyone ..

I'm about to accompany my trusty 5D Mark II with the the 5D Mark III ! But should I wait a bit for a new body announcement anytime soon or should I go ahead and purchase it .. I'm going for a long tour in July and I need a great cam like the 5D Mark III  .. any advice would be a major help for me

I have both, I use my MK3 as a primary and my MK2 as my second for weddings and event photography.  In low light the MK3 locks on really fast and even with ISO set at 3200, I see very little grain in the photos. I would say it depends on what you're using it for..... There is s learning curve with the MK3, it's different than the MK2, worth it in my opinion.

as a person who just had the same thoughts i say buy it. i brought a refurbished one from canons site and it came earlier this week. small learning curve because of all the new menus but its so worth it. the 5d2 is a straight back up camera now.

with that being said BUY the 5d3

If you need FF with better AF system: 5D III or 1D X are two choices you have for now. I don't see anything else coming soon.

And if you buy a refurb 5d3 from canon I think with a promo code it's less than 2 grand.

What features are you looking for in the "new body announcement"?

Unless you need REALLY need high MP and / or 14 stops of DR ;) there is no point in waiting. The 5D3 will be up to the task for whatever you wish to shoot.

In any case, there is no real evidence that Canon will release a camera incorporating the above - Prototypes appear sporadically but it is anyone's guess when a production model becomes available.

All I can advise you is on what I have.  I am a Nikon fan who bought a 5D Mark III because my cousin worked at Canon and got me 40% off list price with family and friends discount.  I have a Nikon film SLR and the 5D Mark III is my first DSLR. 

All I can tell you is I have fallen in love with my Canon, and I am never ceased to be amazed at the quality of the photos it takes. The AF tracks ridiculously accurately and the noise performance is sensational.

If you have the budget to buy a 5D Mark III, I can assure you from my experience, you will not likely be disappointed.   I find it hard to find any faults with it.

I am a Nikonian who is in love with his Canon ;)

I would only buy it if I was going for a long tour in say.... July and needed a great cam like the 5D Mark III.  :)
