Hope it didn't get damaged....  ;)

There has been a Canon 5D Mark III for a little time now.

How do you guys have those photos next to your name an gear lists in your signature? I can't figure out where they keep any of those options.
Anyways, they always said the 5DII would be kept in the lineup as long as supplies lasted, so I guess maybe they just ran out of old bodies to sell?
Kodak A-1 Autographic, Pentax K1000, Canon EOS ELAN 7E, Mamiya 645AFD, Samsung Pro815, Canon XT, T2i, T3i, G11, SX40, Nikon D7000, Pentax K5IIs, Phase One DF+, P30+ and P45+ digital backs, Nikon D800....several systems worth of glass and lighting equipment. Regular renter of other gear

Nevermind, I figured it out.
Also, gotta say I'm glad to see it go. It was a deservingly popular camera for a long time, but the 5DIII is definitely a huge step up in a lot of ways. Namely image quality.
Then again, now that they're dropping the two anomaly SLRs (5DII and T3 as soon as the B is out), they only have one SLR in the whole range that isn't 18MP. That looks to me like a lack of creativity.

Not a chance.  1Dx, 5DmkIII, 6D pretty much cover everything.

I think the only shoe(s) left for them to drop are the 7D and 60D area . . . and I donna thinka wesa gonna like the price. :D

Ehm, 5D3 and 6D? that's two if I count correctly? But, on the other hand I do agree that Canon needs more diversity in their lower end bodies. is it 8 or 9 bodies now with 18 mp? 7D, 60D, SL1, 700D, 650D, 600D, 550D, 1DX (yes it is 18mp, hehe)...did I miss anyone?

I am fairly certain that there is no image quality improvement at low ISO. Actually, most landscape photographers I talk to think that the mark ii is slightly better than the mark iii in image quality. The most obvious upgrade I see is better performance at high ISO and autofocus.

Canon could have optimized the production line for APS-C 18 MP sensors.  1Dx is FF would run on a different line

All good things come to end - with technological products sooner than later.

WIth the 5DM3 and 6D, the 5DM2 is hard sell.  So I suspect Canon sold off their remaining inventory and then dropped the camera from its current offerings.

You're right, I forgot about the 6D. Other than that and the 5DIII, though every camera in their lineup is 18MP, whether APS-C or FF, on-chip phase detection or otherwise, etc. All I'm saying is, people hassled them to stop the premature MP race back in the day, but I don't think people meant to say "find one number and stick with it in every camera for 10 years."

Well, I wonder what the fall announcements will hold for canonites, or 2014. No need to buy something here, just curious about new sensor tech  8)
